Customer Review Summary

Diners most often single out the mixed grill for two, with one praising the lamb chops and the distinct flavour of every item, while another found the sikh kebab dry and the salmon excellent. The tokri chaat starter comes close behind, described as a modern twist on a traditional favourite. The kali mirch murgh, biryani and rasmalai also earn praise, and one reviewer liked watching the biryani pastry cut open at the table. Several credit servers for recommendations that hit the spot, and one suggests asking for the lamb dishes. The complaints are about cost and manner. Two reviewers question the service charge, one found the cocktails not great and pricey, and another thought a child's bowl of curry was steeply priced. One reviewer felt the plates, labelled as Ikea, did not match premium prices. Another sat at a cold table with a constant breeze that chilled the food, alongside a rowdy group. One describes a waiter remarking on their lateness and snatching the bill during a service charge dispute, before the charge was finally taken off.

“I’m really pleased I walked past Pushkar a couple of times today and having decided to eat here while the family were at WWE Live - Nihar looked after me from the moment I arrived to the last spoonful! His recommendations for starter and main absolutely hit the spot. It will definitely be worth a drive back from Barnsley with my better half. Highly recommended and Nihar is a great representative for this business. Many thanks”

“Booked a table for 4 to eat here via first table for 5pm. Called up at 5:05 to explain I was stuck on the main road in traffic and was running a bit late. The lady said “first table only gives you 15 minutes” in which I replied that one of my friends should be there sooner than me. When I arrived, I went straight to my table where my friends were seated. Everything went smoothly. We ordered drinks and food and the waiter gave us recommendations. The food arrived and we shared 3 curries, 4 naans, 2 rices and some potato’s as well a a starter. Whilst dishing up one of the curries, my friend pulled out a black hair from her curry. The waiter came over and we informed him of the hair. He took the hair back to the kitchen and returned to apologise and said he’d bring out a fresh one. Unfortunately I found another hair in this one at the end of eating it. I pulled this hair from my mouth at this point. As we had finished the food, we decided not to mention it. We ordered desserts and then asked for the bill. We noticed a £27.95 service charge on the bill and asked for it to be removed. The waiter said we can’t remove it and walked away returning with the menu to show us that it states this in the menu. My friend decided to make the point that we couldn’t pay a service charge when we found hair in the food twice. The waiters response instantly shocked us as he said “well you were late so we could take off the discount and charge you full price”. We were so shocked that this was the way he chose to speak to a customer. I butted in and mentioned that late or not we were the only customers in the restaurant in which he made a point to point out other customer on the other side. After some chatter at the bar with 2 other members of staff. He returned and said he would take off the service charge. My friend wanted to take a picture of the bill before we paid as one friend was paying and we would be sending her money to save splitting whilst there. The waiter grabbed the bill in her hand and was snatching it from her. She took it back, took the photo and handed it over to him in which he snatched the bill from her hand. I said “do you understand that you’ve just snatched that from her” we explained how rude they had been and he was dismissive. On the way out he very loudly said “see you next time” which prompted my friend to speak to him and the others at the bar about how rude they had been and that it was an unacceptable way to speak to or treat customers. With the hair issue and how it was dealt with, I’d have returned and ate there again. But as this was my first time there and all you hear online is that celebrities go there, I can’t understand why. It’s an absolutely horrid way to treat customers and speak to them. I will not be returning. Also £20+ for a child’s bowl of curry is insane. There’s far better places that are far cheaper.”

“Would I come again yes. Food 9/10. Decor 7/10. Service 8/10 Service was good but worthy of £25 service charge? Not sure but still paid it. Decor a bit odd with tigers/leapords on the ceiling music was okay. Service just needed a little more awareness and attentiveness. Cocktails weren't great and pricey. Biriyani. 9/10. No need for that sauce in the side at all. Ruins flavour. Kali mirch murgh. 9/10. Like a proper karahi dish.excellent. Mixed grill for 2.Sikh kebab was dry. Salmon was excellent. Chicken not dry and subtle in flavour.7/10. Paadadi tokri 8/10. Panneer starter 7/10 comes alive with sauce otherwise bland. Also topi things. Love the crispy coating and idea great. Filling is okay. Need more sauce under neath.710 Rasmolai 9/10. Great flavour and fluffy. Kadjar halal 9.5/10. Tartlett great idea. Caramel notes. Excellent taste. Thankyou”

“We came this evening as a table for two at 5pm. When we arrived there was a private party happening with music.. the gentleman that seated us apologised and said it was about to end, however, I really enjoyed it. There was no apology necessary. It was a really welcoming environment The staff were lovely and our food was amazing. I really think that they could charge more given the location and quality of food. It was also very plentiful. I found this restaurant to be an absolute gem with such lovely staff and we will be bringing our friends back. Definitely recommended. Ps.. I highly recommended the golden pods.”
