About Indico Mailbox
Indico Mailbox is an Indian restaurant and gin bar in The Mailbox, Birmingham, at 113-115 Wharfside Street. The fine-casual format takes its inspiration from North Indian street vendors, and the kitchen works in that street food tradition. Thalis appear on the menu, and the Delhi butter chicken is one of the dishes diners order. A brownie covers dessert. Alongside the kitchen, the gin bar gives the restaurant a drinks side, so one venue serves both a meal and a round of gin. The doors are open daily.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the thali, with the lamb roganjosh and chicken tak tak named as favourites, and several praise the friendly, welcoming service and the quick, hot food. Close behind are the seekh kebab roll with masala chips, the Malai burger, and a butter chicken one diner compares to the version eaten in Delhi. The ice cream and the cutlery served in a tea pot also draw mentions. The complaints are specific. One reviewer found the butter chicken largely tasteless, the rice bland and the lamb curry only passable. Another thought the gol guppa bombs carried too much yogurt and the fish pakora was not worth reordering. A one-star reviewer says four brownies arrived dry and crumbling, and the chef dismissed the complaint as "the same as usual" without checking. Another says a 10% service charge, listed for tables of six or more, was added to a table of two. Several note tables sit close together. One diner mentions that the kitchen is visible from the dining room.

“Indico was a great restaurant experience, the service was friendly and the food was very good. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a budget friendly good eat. Have to pay for parking inside the mall.”

“Food looked great, garlic naan was tasty however butter chicken was largely tasteless. Lamb curry was passable. Rice under seasoned and bland. Style of substance overall.”

“Came here specifically for the brownie, which used to be absolutely delicious, but this visit was a complete disappointment. We ordered four, expecting the same quality as before, but they were extremely dry—so much so that they were crumbling and falling apart like they’d been sitting around for days. The texture was stale, the taste was off, and they weren’t even served warm, which made it even worse. What made the experience more frustrating was the response from the staff. When we raised the issue, the chef showed little to no interest and simply dismissed it, insisting that it was “the same as usual.” There was no effort to check, no apology, and no attempt to resolve the issue. Overall, it felt like a complete lack of care for both the product and the customer experience. Definitely not what you’d expect, especially from a place that once did this so well.”

“Update: today as I was sharing this restaurant with my friend I have noticed on the menu it says “A discretionary service charge of 10% will be added to tables of 6 or more” but we were only two people and we were still charged with this on the bill, I don’t know if this was just automatic or they are chancing it, but it is something to be noted, besides that all that I have said below remains my opinion. Food was okay👌 service is great ( Sandra was super lovely and we felt welcomed) the environment was pleasant, lighting is great and the music complimented the atmosphere, table is a bit small too close to people no privacy at all, toilet is clean, seatings are okay, waiting time was quick and the food is well presented”
