  “Rose & Crown can't have a review removed just because it's a one-star by pretending they don't serve the dish I'm describing. I visited as a part of a large group on the afternoon of Tuesday 28th July 2026. I've attached a photo of the receipt showing their address and "Honey Duck Breast" at the very top. This is a genuine review based on an actual visit. Let’s start off with the description of this plate from the menu: Honey Glazed Duck Breast; Slow Roasted Sweet Potato, Maple Glazed Carrots, Tenderstem Broccoli & Berry Sauce. There were no carrots- but spring onion and rocket. The (not tenderstem) broccoli was undercooked, while the sweet potato was overcooked. As for the berry sauce, it tasted like if you scraped the bottom of a jar of cranberry past its best before date. This was an absolute car crash of a meal; it’s something you’d expect of a fresher confronting the kitchen for the first time in their lives. If the duck knew its breast had been used on such a revolting dish, I’m sure it’d have been fuming.”

  “We have been quite a lot of times to the Rose and Crown so decided to book for our joint birthday meal on Sunday evening as we normally really enjoy it here. Sadly this wasn't the case this visit. we were sat next to a really loud table of about 6 adults, we couldn't hear ourselves talk. (not Rose and crowns fault) but thank god they left after about 45 minutes. We ordered our meals, then 4 other tables arrived, we waited and waited for our food but they all got served first??? their excuse our 2 burgers took longer to cook......Sorry this was rubbish. we waited over an hour for our food. Our 11 year old was past it as he was watching everyone else's food coming out of the kitchen. The staff did acknowledge our wait for food and offered free drinks. To be honest we just wanted to eat and leave. Our 11 year old enjoyed his burger, didn't eat the fries. hubby and other son ate their meals no complaints, I had the mixed roast ( no turkey as it had run out and I was made aware of this when we arrived so just Pork and beef). My meal was more 2 big slabs of pork and hardly any beef, took the meat home for the dog as it was too hard/dry to eat, roast potatoes rock hard, so left them, veg nice. I only ate half my meal as I didn't enjoy it very much. Yes you did check if our food was ok, but I just wanted to leave so said yes it was ok. Won't be returning in a hurry.”
