About Nora's Palace

Nora's Palace is a halal restaurant at 8-10 Amelia St in Belfast, with a kitchen built around charcoal and rice dishes. Chicken shish is cooked over charcoal, and mandi comes in two versions, chicken or lamb. The mixed platter and the mixed shawarma plate put lamb and chicken together with a choice of rice or chips. The kebab list includes lamb kebab and chicken mixed kebab. Mains come with hummus, rice and fresh bread alongside. Reservations are required, and seating inside is very limited. Service can be slow when the restaurant is busy. Tea and baklava are available for dessert.

Customer Review Summary

Mixed platters of shawarma and kebab with rice come up most, including a plate of lamb and chicken shawarma with salad and crispy chips that one reviewer finished despite not usually liking chips. Close behind are the chicken shish, where a reviewer tasted the charcoal smoke and called it juicy, and the chicken and lamb mandi. Hummus, fresh bread, tea and baklava also get mentioned. Not everything lands. One reviewer found the doner wrap not to their taste, another noted limited seating and no clear pricing on the menu, and a third said service was a little slow because the place was busy. Two reviewers were sharply negative, saying a rice and chicken order for three tasted disappointing, seemed days old, and left about half the food uneaten. Even so, most describe the staff as friendly and welcoming, several say they were treated like family, and one table recalls the men running the place putting on music while they ate.

“I had a wonderful experience at Nora's restaurant. The food was fresh, delicious, and of outstanding quality, all at very reasonable prices. A special thanks to Madam Nora, whose generosity, warmth, and exceptional hospitality made the visit even more memorable to try the rice and really was like home. Highly recommended for anyone seeking authentic flavors and excellent value. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”

“I went last night, their food is fantastic. Service little bit slow but you will get it why coz they are very busy. There was A lady I think her name Nora she is great to peoples. You can find lots of different type of fresh food. The Lamb mandi looks very big.”

“Looks good, but unfortunately it didn’t taste good at all. We ordered rice and chicken for 3 people and paid £50. It was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. The food looked old, and the chicken seemed to have been heavily coloured just to make it look fresh and red. The taste was very disappointing, and we ended up leaving almost half of the food. It felt like a waste of money. Definitely won’t be going back again.”
  • Muhammad Mehtab
“It only looks good but tastes worst, Wasted £50 of 3 friends. The put the red colour on the chicken. Rice & Chicken both seems to be 2-3 days or maybe more old. I was about to vomit. We left half of it. Wouldn't recommend anyone.”
