Customer Review Summary

The Sunday sharing roast board draws the most praise, with reviewers describing a lamb board that beat the rump and a beef carvery platter cooked tender. Close behind are the gluten free options, where diners mention a dedicated fryer and a menu that can mostly be adapted, plus gluten free desserts. Others single out the pork belly, homemade breads, a burger, the mushroom starter and the cocktails. The set menu is called good value, and staff are repeatedly described as attentive and friendly. Complaints centre on the food in places. One roast chicken was dry and leaned on a one dimensional gravy, the seabass and fish and chips left a family underwhelmed, and the deep fried brie arrived luke-warm with unmelted cheese. Service drew criticism too. One table waited through an entire match for starters that never came, and another noted a waitress clearing plates before everyone had finished. Desserts were called a small choice, mostly chocolate.

“Very disappointing service. We ordered starters at the beginning of the Arsenal vs Chelsea match, but by around the 80th minute, our food still hadn’t arrived. When we asked, we were told there had been a mistake and that it would be coming shortly. We waited until the end of the match and eventually left hungry. What was even more upsetting was that the same staff member who took our order later cleared our table and seated other customers without checking on us or making any effort to resolve the issue. Everyone else seemed to be getting their orders, which made us feel singled out and, honestly, made us question whether we had anything to do with the way we were treated. I can’t say for certain, but that is how the experience felt. Overall, extremely poor and unprofessional service. We expected much better.”

“Very good gluten free options and have a dedicated gluten free fryer. Service was very good and when asking about the gluten free options was givent a list of everything that was available and could be adapted as gluten free which was the majority of the menu. Dinner here was very tasty and was ideal for a family dinner out, was sitted at the back of the restaurant and there was a good atmosphere where everyone could talk at the table and could be heard. Food was extremely tasty and we would definitely want to come back to try the shared roast”

“The Sunday carvery platter for 2 was exceptional (we had the beef and it was cooked to perfection and very tender). Starters were disappointing. Deep fried brie was luke-warm and cheese hadn't even melted. Soup was like warm and had a very strong basil-like taste.”

“The service was fantastic - I couldn’t fault the staff’s efforts. The restaurant is beautiful and grand and definitely a lovely place to have a drink in the evening. We visited for Sunday lunch and had the roast sharing platter. Our starters were simple but pleasant, however I was quite disappointed with our roast. We got the chicken with stuffing. Unfortunately, the chicken was incredibly dry which was not very nice to eat. It required us to douse the food in gravy, which also was quite a let down as it was essentially a simple bisto gravy, one dimensional in taste and texture. Overall, the food was a bit of a let down and I wouldn’t recommend. But again, lovely place with lovely people.”

“We went here for a family Birthday. We got the set menu which is good value. The food was just ok unfortunately- we got the seabass and fish and chips as mains, not very impressed. The service was good. I think the outside area at the front would be ideal for sunny, day drinks”
