About Ryan's Bar & Restaurant

Ryan's Bar & Restaurant is a bar and grill in Belfast, at 116-118 Lisburn Rd, that pairs a full food menu with a working bar. Chicken wings are the main draw and are ordered as a starter. Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often point to the chicken wings, called famous and very tasty, as the draw, and several pair them with the set two-course meal, which they describe as exceptional value with large portions. Close behind are the seafood chowder, served thick and piping hot, and the brisket rigatoni with plenty of beef in a slightly sweet sauce. Others mention the pork belly roast, a medium rare steak cooked just right, the chicken, chorizo and bacon pie, banoffee pie and creamy pints. Staff are described as welcoming and patient, and one reviewer says a gentleman found a table for two on a busy weekend. The complaints centre on service and consistency. One Sunday party of walk-ins waited around half an hour without anyone offering a drink and left without ordering, while another found service slow on a Sunday night and the chicken curry bland. The seafood chowder had also run out for one diner, and a reviewer advises reserving in advance for food. One diner needed the bill explained and staff did so calmly.

“We came to Belfast for our son’s convocation at Queens and this being our last night here, we decided to pop in for dinner having read the good reviews. Son told us it might be hard to get a table due to it being a weekend but the nice gentleman accommodated us and got us a table for 2. Decided to go for the 15£ per person set meal and upsized my meal to the steak for 12£ additional. The soup was rich and tasty, the chicken wings could’ve been a tad spicier, but we are Asians in UK so better not complain. 😁 Asked for a medium rare steak and it didn’t disappoint. Cooked just correct with no hints of blood oozing out of the meat which is perfect for me. At the end of things, I got confused with the bill and the ever polite, pleasant staffs took their time to explain it ever so calmly to us. Ohhh.. unfortunately the seafood chowder is not available anymore so we missed out on that. Overall, it would have been a 10 🌟 if we can rate it that high. Definitely will return again should we be back here sometime in the future.”

“This seems to be a quite busy place. For food, definitely reserve in advance. The food is quite good, tasty, flavourful. They had 2 courses for £15 which is a steal. I had sea food chowder and Rigatoni. Delicious. The chicken wings is famous and very tasty. The salmon was very good too. Nice service. Very good staff. Definitely recommend.”
