About The Fig Tree Barton
At 19 High St in Barton Upon Humber, The Fig Tree Barton is a cafe where dogs are welcome on the sun-trap back patio, though not inside the shop. That gives walkers with a dog a place to stop for a meal. The kitchen serves large breakfasts with eggs cooked to order, and pancakes are on the breakfast menu. The food is homemade, and the cake selection includes lemon cake and a coconut tart. Drinks run from coffee, including mocha and large black coffee, to pots of tea for two.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the breakfasts, with large cooked breakfasts, eggs done to a picky diner's standard, and pancakes named alongside a pot of tea or a mocha. Close behind are the cakes and tarts, including a lemon cake and a coconut tart whose pastry was well cooked and not too sweet, plus a large black coffee described as spot on. Many describe the food as fresh, tasty and homemade, and the staff as friendly, quick and polite. The back patio is called a lovely sun trap, and reviewers say dogs are welcome there but not in the shop, while another says staff are accommodating with an anti-social little dog. The main criticism comes from one reviewer who finds the place has zero atmosphere and feels cold in winter, so it suits a quick coffee better than a lingering stay. That reviewer suggests light background music and more heating. When a table mix-up occurred, staff handled it professionally and comped a lemon cake instead of a drink.

“Absolutely outstanding from start to finish! The food at The Fig Tree was delicious, beautifully presented, and you could really taste that everything was homemade with care and quality ingredients. The service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. It’s so refreshing to find a place that gets everything right. “Found this restaurant by chance. Sat outside in back; very nice patio, lovely sun trap. Dog friendly outside in back patio but not in shop. Excellent food and good service. Well recommended.”

“I’ve visited the Fig Tree a fair amount of times, and the food and coffees and choices of cakes have always been decent. My main gripe is the place has zero atmosphere, and it never feels very warm there during the winter months. It’s okay for a coffee and breakfast/lunch if needed, but it’s not the kind of cafe that you can chill out and relax in. I’d suggest some decent light background music (but not the radio) playing to make for a better atmosphere, and turning the heating up in winter so you aren’t forced to stay there just long enough to drink a coffee quickly and leave. When you are competing with several other cafes in the area that are good, you need to be competitive in all ways, so I would recommend considering at the above-comments.”
