About The Loggia at RH England

The Loggia at RH England is an open-air restaurant and wine bar on Aynho Park in Banbury, set on a 400-year-old Cotswolds estate. Wood-fired, stone-baked pizzas anchor the menu, including a truffle pizza and a sausage pizza. Charcuterie boards and shared plates sit alongside them, and tiramisu is among the desserts. The menu is limited, and there is no separate soft drink menu. The terrace looks out over the countryside and valley, and fire pits there give groups a place to linger after the meal. Wine is part of the offer, which makes the bar a natural stop for a glass with a board of charcuterie. Guests arriving by car can use valet parking, and a phone link lets them summon the car when they are ready to leave.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the setting, the open terrace with countryside views, fire pits and heaters, and a pizza with a glass of champagne is how one regular describes a relaxed afternoon. Service draws praise as polite and friendly, with the valet greeting mentioned twice. Food is where opinions split. The sausage and truffle pizzas have fans, and the salad and tiramisu are liked, with desserts called fantastic. Several others call the pizzas underwhelming, with dough described as hard, dry and cracker-like and toppings overcooked. One diner was charged extra for swapping sausage for chicken without being told beforehand, and another found the parmesan missing from a salad because it was not halal. Cost comes up repeatedly, including an expensive diet coke and medium glass of wine, and one party waited a long time for pizzas and again for the bill. One reviewer would return purely for the atmosphere, while another says they would not go again for the food.

“Our second time visiting RH England and we opted for dinner at La Loggia, the surroundings are lovely & we did book in advance as it was extremely busy especially during the summer months. We hoped to get a firepit seat as a group of 4 but it was so extremely busy so we were sat under the shade, slightly squashy seating where the rude & mannerless people next to you are staring into your face whilst you eat? Strange… The stone baked pizza was nice & we enjoyed the tiramisu, overall I preferred The Conservatory for dining.”

“The staff are charming, the setting is bewitching and the view over the valley is quite divine but the food (in particular the pizza) is extremely underwhelming, it's comparable to what you'd find in a chicken shop in London - small, toppings overcooked and low quality dough. It almost seems like a cruel joke to serve such average food in such beautiful surroundings.”

“This was probably our third time visiting, and it never disappoints. We always enjoy wandering around RH first! the interior and displays are beautiful and never get boring. Sitting at The Loggia with a pizza and a glass of champagne while looking out over the countryside is such a lovely experience. We especially love seeing the reindeer, which makes it feel even more special. In the colder months, the fire pits create such a cosy atmosphere, but in the summer it’s just as much of a vibe with the views and sunshine. A perfect place for a relaxed afternoon, and we’ll definitely be back again.”

“We visited The Loggia at RH England to celebrate my new job, and while the atmosphere and service were excellent, the food was honestly very disappointing. We ordered two pizzas. The truffle pizza and the sausage pizza. Unfortunately, neither of them had much flavor. We couldn’t really taste the ingredients, and the dough itself was extremely hard and dry, almost like a cracker rather than proper pizza dough. I’ve eaten pizza in many different restaurants and cities, and this was genuinely one of the most underwhelming and worst pizzas I’ve had. It honestly felt like the chefs had never tasted their own pizzas before serving them. For the sausage pizza, I requested replacing the sausage with chicken, but they added an extra £16 charge to the bill for the chicken without properly informing us beforehand. If I had known, I would have simply asked to remove the sausage instead. We also ordered the rosemary crispy potatoes. The baby potatoes were roasted but not crispy at all, and there was barely any rosemary flavor. The salad was another disappointment. The menu stated it included parmesan, but it arrived without any. When I asked, I was told the parmesan was not halal because of the production method. That information absolutely should have been communicated before ordering, not after the food arrived. The only reason I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because the service was genuinely good, the venue itself is beautiful, and the desserts were actually fantastic. Other than coming for dessert and the ambiance, I honestly don’t think the food is worth the prices they charge.”

“The open terrace at the Loggia is absolutely stunning – offering breathtaking views that truly elevate the entire experience. The service was exceptional from start to finish, attentive without being intrusive. The interiors are beautifully designed, blending elegance and inspiration in every detail. A perfect spot for a memorable visit – highly recommended.”
