About Farm and Table

Farm and Table is a farm-to-table restaurant in Banbury, set on Wykham Park Farm next to the Wykham Farm Shop. The kitchen works with that neighbouring shop for its meat and produce, and any ingredients that come from elsewhere are sourced from other local farms. Breakfast is served, including a Full English Breakfast, and a Sunday roast runs on Sundays. Tapas also has a place on the menu. Tea comes in a mug rather than a pot. Tables are walk-in, though Sunday lunch now takes bookings. Upstairs, the restaurant has sofas.

Good to know

“Great quality food is our passion. Delivering tasty meals straight from our farmyard neighbours, straight to the table is our pride and joy. We only use great quality, locally sourced produce, keeping ethics, welfare, and seasonal ingredients in mind. Our restaurant works closely with our neighbouring farm shop, with all of our meat and produce, if not from this source, coming from other local farms”

Customer Review Summary

Breakfast is what reviewers praise most, with the Full English and "great breakfasts" singled out alongside food described as fresh and high quality. Sunday roast comes close behind, called delicious, and cakes, ice cream and iced coffee also earn mentions. Several describe a friendly, welcoming team, and the farm shop next door gets repeat praise. Service draws the sharpest criticism. One diner reports no check-in after the mains, empty glasses left on the table when new drinks and puddings arrived, and having to flag down staff to order dessert, which made the automatic 10% service charge feel unearned. Another says a manager reprimanded staff in front of customers, and a Full English ordered without black pudding arrived with it anyway. A longtime regular says the menu never changes, there are no kids' options, dish changes are refused, and service has become less friendly. Still, one visitor with dogs recalls being offered a water bowl while sitting outside.

“A typical farm shop and restaurant. The shop is large, busy and very tidy. Staff is polite. The food is delicious and fresh. I wish they decorate the outdoors little more. Outdoor seating area has no view. See the picture.”

“A Study in Hospitality Neglect: Where Farm and Table’s Service Completely Lost the Plot Sunday lunch at the Farm and Table restaurant, situated adjacent to the Wykham Farm Shop, should have been a relaxed, well-executed affair. Instead, it served as a textbook example of how not to manage a dining room. While the food itself was perfectly serviceable - nothing particularly memorable, but certainly edible - the standard of service was so profoundly lacking that it actively undermined the entire experience. Hospitality operates on a few foundational principles, and Farm and Table broke the most basic one the moment our mains arrived: never deliver food without following up to ensure it’s acceptable once the diner has taken a few bites. Skipping this isn’t merely an oversight; it’s an operational blind spot that leaves customers feeling disregarded and invites unnecessary disputes. We received zero check-in, no “how is everything tasting?”, just silent plate placement and a quick retreat. It was a notably warm Sunday, and thirst is a natural consequence of dining in such conditions. Yet rather than proactively checking if the table might want a second round of drinks, the staff adopted a passive approach so extreme that one of our party eventually had to abandon their seat and wander the restaurant hunting for someone willing to take an order. When our first course concluded, any properly trained establishment would recognise the cue, step in to clear plates, and finally pose that earlier missed question about the food. Instead, the team’s attention was conspicuously elsewhere. When the second round of drinks eventually arrived, they were deposited on a table still littered with empty glasses and bottles from the first round. Not a single attempt was made to reset, tidy, or even acknowledge the clutter. Dessert? Unprompted, unoffered, entirely ignored. We had to physically flag down a waitress to secure an order. And when the puddings finally appeared, there was literally no space to place them. Main course plates, first-round glassware, and general table detritus still occupied every available inch. Only then, confronted with an impossibly crowded table, did the staff finally remember how to clear. The final indignity arrived at billing. The menu proudly states that a 10% service charge is added automatically. Given the experience, this fee feels less like a gratuity and more like a compulsory levy. An automatic charge demands consistent, attentive service to justify it. Until Farm and Table can reliably deliver on that promise, the policy requires urgent review: either train your team to provide service worthy of the charge, or remove it entirely and let customers decide. Verdict: The food was okay. The service, however, was severely lacking from start to finish. A pleasant setting and passable cooking cannot compensate for inattentive staff, missed hospitality fundamentals, and a dining room that seems to run on autopilot. I’d gladly return to Wykham Farm Shop for its retail offerings, but I’ll be taking my Sunday lunch elsewhere until Farm and Table learns that service isn’t optional - it’s the entire point.”

“Everything tasted fresh and natural, and you could really tell the ingredients were high quality. The flavors were simple but delicious. Great start to the day, and the service was warm and welcoming too.”

“Let me start by saying the food and staff were absolutely incredible and the place is great. This was the first time visiting and unfortunately the experience has been shocking. There was a gentleman working behind the till (I assume he was a manager) and the way he spoke to the staff in front of customers was appealing! Your job as a manager is to lead and support, not belittle and disrespect in front of customers! People make mistakes and if you need to correct someone do it in private. To all the staff, you were great and made the experience lovely. The food was really fresh but I ask for a Full English Breakfast without Black Pudding and I was told that it comes as is, I said I don’t want it and to throw it in the bin, yet i was still served the black pudding. The atmosphere was lovely except the visit started with hearing the way the manager spoke to stuff left me shocked and quite frankly with a bad taste. If not for that remark while ordering i would have given 5 stars, as this is a hidden gem in Banbury.”

“Stopped by today on a walk in the sunshine. Ice cream was delicious and a wonderful iced coffee. We were offered iced water and even a water bowl for our dogs. The service, even though we didn't order food, was so friendly and attentive. We sat outside in the sunshine and would certainly come again. I hear the tapas is great!”
