About Hollybush Inn
Hollybush Inn is a bar on the A713 in Ayr, set in the Ayrshire countryside with views of the farmland around it. Dogs sit with their owners at the tables, and the team brings them water. The menu is large and gives plenty of choice, including a Sunday lunch of roast beef and gravy, lamb rump and sticky toffee pudding. The kitchen works with locally sourced produce, and the bar pours locally brewed real ales. Weddings, christenings and other private functions are held here, which suits groups planning a celebration. The inn opens Wednesday to Sunday and closes on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the food itself, with the smoked haddock and prawn gratin and the lamb rump described as cooked to perfection, and the Sunday roast beef with gravy earning praise too. Close behind are the portions, called huge or massive by several, along with a sticky toffee pudding described as brilliant and massive. Friendly, quick service and views of the Ayrshire countryside come up repeatedly, and several mention that dogs are welcome, with one saying water was brought for theirs. Reviewers also call the prices reasonable for the quality. The complaints are smaller but specific. One diner found the roast portion a little small and the sides weak, noting frozen potatoes. Another calls the staff dress scruffy and the paper menus food splattered and curling at the edges. A third was bothered by a doorbell ringing every couple of minutes, which they presumed signals waiters to collect food from the kitchen. One diner describes water and a menu change being handled without any fuss.

“Called in this afternoon place wasn't too busy no waiting for a table. staff were very helpful and courteous couldn't be more friendly. Sat outside and we had a great meal 💯 portions are massive I'd like to say food was very well cooked and presented best we've had for a long time anything we asked for like iced water or a change in menu wasn't a problem with the staff very well done to kitchen staff for producing food of this quality in this heat .”

“Great venue for a family meal! The food here was amazing with some of the most reasonable prices I’ve seen in a while. The views of the Ayrshire countryside are fabulous.”

“Food is excellent, good quality and well cooked. Staff were variable in their service. The biggest downer frankly is the lack of smartness in staff dress. The look was not just casual but scruffy. Also the menus, which are printed on paper, are food splattered and curling up at the edges. It would be worth investing in a laminator (Tesco?) and pouches to make menus that can be wiped, which in turn presents a cleaner image for an eatery.”
