“We popped into Grain today and we weren’t disappointed. It’s a lovely vibe with great food and drinks. Staff were lovely as well. We were stood contemplating the menu and I told the bloke behind me to go first as we were undecided. He said “if you need any help with that I can highly recommend the Cumberland sausage milk roll, I had one yesterday and I’m back for another today”. We’ll say no more, that there was all the help we needed. Decision made; we got the sausage bap thingy and it was excellent. The random man’s recommendation was a strong one. So now you can take it from me, another random man, that the sausage sarnie was tremendous. We sat inside, there’s bar stool style seating in the main area, plus a little side room with actual tables, we sat inside that bit. Coffee✅Food✅Service✅Vibe✅ We’ll definitely return when we’re back in Ambleside.”

“Had a wonderful experience! The food was incredible, I had the Roasted Chicken & Chorizo Hot Pot and it tasted and looked like a proper home-cooked meal filled with white beans, red kidney beans, chickpeas and tomatoes. It was the perfect warm meal for a rainy winter day! I also ordered the chocolate fudge cake and, on top of being super tasty (not too sweet, great icing with a hint of saltiness), it was the most moist slice of cake I’ve had in the past two weeks of trying sweets in the Lake District! The staff was also very kind, the place super clean and the wooden decor looked lovely. Great ambiance as well!”
