Customer Review Summary

Friendly staff come up most, with several describing servers who were chatty, prompt and welcoming, including one who went a step further over a request for oat milk. Food earns steady praise too: a generous slice of fruit flapjack with an iced latte, nice pastries, a great hot chocolate, and homemade scones that looked delicious to one diner. Reviewers also mention an extensive menu of breakfasts, sandwiches and jacket potatoes, and food that came out quickly. The complaints are about details. One found the bacon very overcooked and the plate stone cold, another called avocado on a single slice of toast pricey, and a few felt the inside was tight and squashed. One reviewer sat at a table left uncleared, and had to ask for it to be wiped before the teapot and cups were set down.

“Was looking for somewhere nice to relax over a coffee after a long and enjoyable walk, and decided to try this friendly little café. I'd made an excellent choice! Located on the main shopping street, not far from the Bridge House, it has outside tables and a clean, bright and colourful interior with a stone feature wall on which the day's specials boards were displayed. The staff were lovely and made me feel really welcome. It's dog friendly too. The menu was extensive and included breakfasts, sandwiches, jacket potatoes, and a few simple cooked meals. The cakes and the homemade scones looked delicious! A great variety of drinks to choose from, including speciality teas, coffees and smoothies, and they also serve alcoholic drinks. I had a very generous slice of fruit flapjack and a refreshing iced latte. The café had a relaxed and friendly vibe as well. Would definitely recommend!”

“The staff were very attentive especially the young lady who went one step further regarding my wife’s preference for oat milk. Service was prompt and as requested. The place is clean and not too crowded. Next time in Ambleside we will pop in again.”
