Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return most for the battered fish, described as light and crispy without being oily, with several preferring the haddock over cod. Chips are called spot on, and diners also name the spicy gravy, pudding and chips with gravy, mushy peas and pies, plus a gluten free option on Mondays that one regular says piqued their curiosity. Portions are described as big, and the staff as friendly and smiling. Service is quick even when the shop gets very busy, and a few mention queues outside, with one reviewer likening them to those at famous food outlets. A couple of reviewers call it a higher price range but say the fish quality is higher than most. The one critical account comes from a reviewer whose 84-year-old father queued a long time, only to be told at the till that a £50 note would not be accepted, with no explanation and no sign beforehand, leaving him embarrassed in front of other customers.

“I was very disappointed with the way my 84-year-old dad was treated. He queued for a long time, only to be told at the till that the shop would not accept his £50 note. No explanation was given, which left him feeling embarrassed and upset in front of other customers, he has been using this chippie for years. If a business has a policy about accepting certain notes, it should be made clear with a sign before people queue, or staff should explain the reason politely, or even have this advertised on your website. A little understanding and kindness would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, this experience left a very poor impression. I hope the business takes this feedback on board and improves how situations like this are handled in future.”

“It's surprisingly difficult to find good fish and chips and then to find one that opens when they say it does. This place has become my go to. They do a top notch chippy tea and are always happy to see you. Thanks guys!”
