  “​This meal was a masterclass in food and hospitality. The atmosphere is fantastic, but the people and the plates are what make it truly special. ​The food quality is undeniable—the bao buns were incredibly tender and the fish sliders were fresh and vibrant. However, the biggest highlight were the pastry/desert made by amanda and her team. Their work is world-class; the execution and balance of sweetness in their desserts are top-tier. Amanda's genuine kindness made the evening unforgettable. ​Our server, Michael, was also exceptional. He was professional, attentive, and ensured the entire experience flowed perfectly. It’s rare to find a spot where the service and the pastry program are just as elite as the main kitchen. We will definitely be back!”

  “We recently hosted a client dinner at Barbacana with a party of 10 and the entire evening was outstanding from start to finish. Chef Christian Hernandez put together an incredible experience. Every course was thoughtful, beautifully presented, and delicious. The wine pairings were perfect and reasonably priced. This was a culinary experience, not just a client dinner reservation. The service was just as impressive. The staff did a great job walking our table through each course, explaining the ingredients and pairings, and keeping everything running smoothly for a larger group. The pacing was spot-on and the attention to detail didn’t go unnoticed. Chef Hernandez brings the experience of someone who has worked in Michelin starred kitchens, and it shows in every course. If this is the standard he’s setting at Barbacana, it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see the restaurant earn that kind of recognition soon. It was a perfect evening for our team and our clients. We will absolutely be back.”

  “Been to Barbacana a handful of times for both work and leisure, needless to say only have good things to say about this place. The food is truly one of a kind, Chef Christian really sets the bar high and his experience is showcased in every bite. Food like you’ve never had before, at least here Houston. I would recommend this place for anyone who is looking to try real good food that isn’t an imitation of another restaurant in the city. Everything here is original. Great to impress out of towners!”

  “The service is exceptional. All staff are friendly and attentive. Went for lunch and it was not busy. I got the duck confit bao buns and the butternut squash. The food is just absolutely excellent. For someone who can't tolerate too much heat, the food is perfectly balanced. My only complaint is that I wish I could've eaten more but the portions were so reasonable and for a very good price. I did end up getting the fig crostata for dessert and it was superb as well. The pastry is just so flakey and delicious. And I loved the spices matched with the fresh fig. They also have a pretty good cocktail program as well. I am very excited to try every single dish. If this place was next to me, I'd be there 3-4 times a week.”

  “This place is amazing! Best meal I've had all year. Did the tasting menu with the wine pairing and everything hit perfectly. Staff is great and super friendly. Couldn't recommend it more.”

  “We went on a night where we were the only customers. It was a nice surprise. We did a tasting of chef's choice. The food was amazing. It was amazing to try some very new things, and the plating was beautiful. The flavors were harmonious and I was quite surprised. My only complaint is that for 4 people, we did not leave full for $75 a person. Each of the dishes before we're for 4 people to share.”

  “Wow. What a surprise. We tried the no reservations option. Savory food brought out (chefs choice) till you are full. For the three of us it worked out to a 7 course meal.”

  “Lovey experience at Barbacana. We went for our anniversary and the service, food and drink were exceptional. Very creative dishes. Wagyu carpaccio, a vegetarian dish for the wifey that looked like a play on ramen and was delish. Pork collar and some amazing desserts and cocktails. Highly recommended!!!”
