About the Albert
The Albert is an American restaurant in Chicago, set inside an Einstein-themed hotel at 228 E Ontario St Floor 1, where the format pairs chef-driven, Italian-inspired fare with a cocktail program. Much of its character comes from that hotel setting, which frames the dining room as a polished stop for guests and city diners rather than a neighborhood trattoria. The signature plate is Tagliatelle, and Olive Oil Cake anchors the dessert side, while Wine supports the menu as a popular category. Reservations are advised because the hotel location draws a steady flow of visitors alongside its local dining scene.

Customer Review Summary
Diners consistently highlight the curated, personalized service, where servers select complementary dishes and guide the entire meal. The olive oil cake is a recurring centerpiece, praised alongside the sea bass, chicken, crudo, and the smoky Vesuvius cocktail. Close behind, the Brunchissimo draws crowds for its egg sandwich, golden eggs, and bruschetta carts. Reviewers also single out the rich ravioli, risotto, and the Einstein-themed decor. A notable caveat surfaces from a returning diner who found the food generic and mass-produced compared to past visits, and another who found the ravioli's cream sauce overly rich with flat flavor. Several reviewers suggest letting the staff curate the meal, and the experience often closes with a signature olive oil cake brought to the table.

“Stopped by for a quick dinner - had the Ravioli and Brussels. Ravioli was rich and creamy. Flavor was a little flat, the balsamic on top was a good highlight but barely offset the richness of the cream sauce. Presentation could be better. …”

“Went for a nice girls dinner and it absolutely exceeded our expectations. The setting and decor are beautiful and the service was fantastic. Steve and Chris both were so friendly and made the entire night so memorable. The food was also fantastic, no one had a single complaint. Fantastic wine/cocktails. All in all a 5 star experience”

“I wasn’t particularly impressed with the menu. We visited on New Year’s Eve, and while it was fine overall, it didn’t have the romantic, lounge-style vibe I was hoping for. …”

“We had a amazing time on New Year's eve. Everything was top notch - the food, service, ambience. The highlight was meeting chef Chiappetti. He was kind and generous taking the time to talk to you. He even brought up his signature olive oil cake to try. And it was delicious! I am very sad that it was the first and last time we saw him as he unexpectedly passed away a day later. Such a tremendous loss! We will be going to the Albert for Valentine's day and will raise a glass to the chef.”
