San Laurel
Quick info
About San Laurel
San Laurel is a Spanish restaurant in Los Angeles, set along 100 S Grand Ave with an outdoor balcony that shapes much of its dining identity. Its menu follows a Mediterranean-meets-Californian direction, built around shareable plates and seafood. The Gambas a La Zahara anchors the seafood side, while the Beefsteak Tomato Tartare and the Grilled Lubina stand out among the mains. The balcony gives the format an open-air element that influences how the space works, and reservations are advised for those seeking a table outside.

Customer Review Summary
Diners consistently single out the sweeping views from the Conrad Hotel as the centerpiece of the experience, with the bright, airy space and floor-to-ceiling windows drawing repeated praise. The Spanish and Californian menu earns high marks for beautifully plated, flavorful dishes, with reviewers specifically naming the gambas, octopus, vermicelli mac and cheese, fried chicken with furikake buttermilk sauce, lox on toast, and a honey oat latte. One diner is still thinking about the congee. A few note the price point as a trade-off, with one reviewer finding the set course unsatisfying for the cost and another calling the experience overpriced. A more detailed complaint describes a dismissive interaction when attempting to swap the overwhelmingly sweet Basque cheesecake, leaving a birthday celebrant without a dessert. Most, however, highlight the knowledgeable staff and attentive service, with several diners returning for pre-theater dinners.

“Had breakfast here during our stay at the Conrad, and I’m not kidding when I say I’m still thinking about that congee. 🥲 Everything was so fresh and delicious! The service was great, the atmosphere was lovely, and the overall dining experience was fantastic. Plus, we only spent about $250 including tip, which felt like a great value for the quality and experience. Would absolutely come back! ✨🍽️”

“I’ve been here 3 times. All pre-theater dinner. Though it’s inside the Conrad hotel it is easy to access. With the high ceilings, trees and floor to ceiling windows the ambience is bright and airy with direct views of the Walt Disney …”

“The view is absolutely amazing and the food did not disappoint. The octopus was perfectly cooked and very tender, the baby potatoes were delicious, and the honey oat latte was surprisingly good and well balanced. We were originally there for brunch, but it ended at 11:30am, so we ordered from the lunch menu instead and still had a great experience. The service was very attentive without feeling intrusive, and I would definitely come back to try the brunch menu next time.”

“When you have a great location like across from the best concert hall in the US and perhaps the world, you need to bring it. Chef Andres does just that 10 stories up in the Conrad Hotel. You think you get every dish when you read it on the menu, or at least most, but then when you get it and eat it it’s a whole different thing. Ever wondered what impeccably fried chicken would taste like with a furikake buttermilk sauce? Wonder no more! It’s amazing. How about the best lox on a piece of toast you’ve ever had? Sounds easy and simple but here it’s a different level. Really amazing food, drinks, service and view. It really is a destination that shouldn’t be missed if you’re visiting downtown LA.”
