About Redbird

Redbird is a New American restaurant, brunch spot, and cocktail bar in Downtown Los Angeles at 114 E 2nd St. Its draw is a menu of inventive plates matched with creative drinks in a two-level space that doubles as an event venue and lounge. The signature plate is the Day Boat Scallops, while the Basque Baked Eggs anchor the brunch side and the Everything Parker Rolls serve as a house staple. Because the rooftop fills up, reservations are advised.

Customer Review Summary

Redbird draws consistent praise for its striking setting inside a historic building, with diners repeatedly singling out the open-air ceiling in the main dining room as a standout feature. The food earns high marks across meals, with specific dishes like the scallops, pork chop, lamb shank, and Parker House rolls called out by name, alongside strong showings from the pastas and salads. Cocktails are another major draw, described as unique and next level, with the night cap to-go option and the Don Flamenco grapefruit drink getting specific nods. Service is frequently described as friendly, warm, and professional. A few reviewers note that the wine and desserts fall short of the rest of the menu, and one mentions that happy hour pricing is restricted to the lounge area rather than the dining room.

This the case where high prices are not only justified but necessary. I have dined here many times and have enjoyed many of their meals and I have been blown away by the refined flavor and high quality of each and every dish I've tasted. This fine dinning at its most sublime expression.

I never really make it to DTLA anymore but if one does, Redbird is pretty great for an intimate dinner, drinks at the bar, celebration with friends, etc. Their menu is pretty solid and they seem to do their basics very well. The porkchop was my favorite. The lamb shank was decent and the curry sauce was excellent. The pastas and salads are always on the mark. What they also do well are cocktails, classic and new fusion and love the night cap menu where they seal a cocktail for you to-go. The wine and desserts are pretty mediocre. Better to just get another cocktail in my opinion. I found the service wonderful. Efficient and friendly. They are run by professionals, which are hard to find these days. The thing I really enjoyed was the atmosphere, especially in the main dining room with open roof. Really sets the ambiance apart from other restaurants.

From the moment we arrived we knew this was a special place. The staff was beyond friendly and greeted us with warmth and made us feel welcomed. The location is beautiful and is a destination worthy of praise. We were there for …

A beautiful space in a wonderful historical building with gorgeous architecture. There were 4 of us on a fun double date night and the food was delicious and the service impeccable. The chef sent out Shishito peppers and the Parker House rolls - YUM! (and all of us were eyeing that last roll.) I am an appetizer grazer so, for my entree I had the avocado salad and grilled prawns - so good! The fellas had the John Dory and my friend had the Pappardelle. All plates were eaten CLEAN! We indulged in dessert, the fellas both enjoying the Rum Raisin Ice Cream. I had the Mandarin sorbet and my friend had the cranberry sorbet. All dee-lish! I highly recommend Redbird for dates, friendship dinners or drinks in the lounge or at the bar. You will not be disappointed!

The atmosphere is chill but distinctly upscale. The inside seating has a fancy lounge vibe to it. We sat outside with the open air ceiling and it was very pleasant. The menu was not overwhelming but still had some nice options. The food was delicious. The drinks were on point. Great spot for a nice date. We will be back.
