  “The restaurant gets BUSY. We came for Sunday brunch. Even with a reservation (we were ~10m late) we had to wait about 15-20m for a table. It wasn’t a big deal but noted as we made reservations. Seeing the crowd made it make sense. The waiting area is horrible. It’s not enough space for the amount of people that come. Indoor waiting was full so we waited outside. Again, no big deal but something to note before coming. Being from a smaller city, this kind of bothered me. I have traveled to other big cities where space is limited indoors (valid) so there is an outdoor waiting area or even bar to 1) kill time but 2) organize! The sweet tea impressed me being for the south. I didn’t expect the west coast to do good in this category, even at a southern restaurant! Drinks were AMAZING and presentation was lovely. My only draw back was the limited menu. I wanted more brunch options. Overall I would come back if I came into town on a weekday. A weekend is too much for me due to the lack of waiting areas. As someone who gets overwhelmed easily, this was a huge drawback for me.”

  “Food with Soul and Service with even more soul. Mary B was my food expert and guided my journey. I walked from my hotel in search for some flavor that was in the neighborhood. I am a tough soul food critic and chef myself, but I can't explain how AMAZING this food is. The Fried Deviled Eggs - perfect crisp and flavor, not to salty and the bacon makes the dish (must try), couldn't decide between the fried chicken and the oxtail soni got both. Oxtails are NOT sweet as they describe on the menu, they are savory and impressive, I had to order an extra side of the gray because it was so amazing (I soaked my chicken after I ate the skin with their homemade hot sauce), the chick had flavor to its core, the brine had the meat juicy and seasoned to perfection. Tough feid chix critic. MUST TRY. Not everybody can cook greens but these were straight from the soul, vinegar and savory perfect blend. MUST TRY. I will be back when I travel. Memorable food and service. That homemade hot sauce was amazing as well. Well done Fixins Kicthen”

  “Insanely good! Shrimp n grits, fried green tomatoes, candied yams, collard greens, corn bread, fried chicken…all some of the best Ive ever had. You wont be disappointed.”

  “We were in Los Angeles for a few days and our Uber driver, Mike, highly recommended Fixins Soul Kitchen. We're so glad we took his advice because it ended up being one of our favorite meals of the trip. We started with the catfish bites, which were excellent. They're basically the same delicious, well seasoned catfish as the fried catfish filet, just in bite sized pieces. For our entrees, we had the smothered chicken, smothered pork chops (without the pickled onions), and the fried catfish filet. The pork chops were seasoned perfectly, the smothered chicken was tender and full of flavor, and the fried catfish was cooked just right with great seasoning. For sides, we tried the black eyed peas, mustard greens, mac and cheese, and collard greens. The black eyed peas were easily my favorite and I would definitely order them again. The mac and cheese was very good, the mustard greens were tasty, and the collard greens were okay. We also had both the cornbread and biscuits. The cornbread was outstanding, while the biscuits were good. The service was friendly and attentive, and everyone made us feel welcome. After dinner, we walked around LA LIVE and took pictures at the Kobe Bryant statue in front of Crypto.com Arena, which made for a great evening. If you're visiting Los Angeles or just looking for some outstanding soul food, Fixins Soul Kitchen is definitely worth the stop. We'll absolutely be back the next time we're in town.”

  “Amazing establishment. Everyone was welcoming from the moment you enter. I had smothered chicken, rice and greens. Husband had fried chicken and red beans and rice. Peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream and a senstack side car. Everything was good. Its a vibe that heightened the experience. Dj came in about 5, r&b vibes. I 1000% recommend. Connor was our server, he was very attentive and friendly. I wasn't done with my kool-aid, he offered me one to go! Very nice place, family friendly.”

  “Everything was good! Fried chicken arrived hot! Wings were big. Greens and Black eye peas were hittin. I don’t know what kind of butter that was, but it was really good and the biscuit was really soft and delicious. Faster service at bar. Lastly, music was all that. Soulful and they played alot of cuts.”

  “I still remember eating here like it was the first time. It's always a pleasant dining experience whenever we come back as the food and service have always been consistent. Great portions too for the price you pay.”

  “Aside from a little weight gain, I have no issues! The best soul food place I've had in LA. I love the severs and bartenders even when people can be overwhelming the staff keep nice and composed. Catfish is fire, fried tomatoes are great. Blessed hands for the sides Update: still good”

  “We ordered the oxtail with candied yams and the chicken and waffles with thigh meat. I tried my friend's chicken which was super crispy and juicy. The oxtail was good too but a bit salty so definitely pairs with the rice. The yams were not bad too.”

  “The fried chicken was pretty good. The deviled eggs were way too over priced. The gumbo was actually very very good. Overall pretty good but service was a bit slow when I went but it was super busy.”
