Customer Review Summary

Diners consistently single out the fried chicken for its crispy, seasoned batter and juicy interior, with the chicken and waffles drawing particular praise. Close behind, sides like collard greens, candied yams, and mac and cheese earn frequent mentions, alongside starters like catfish nuggets and peach cobbler. The cocktails, specifically the Lavender Lemon Drop, and the lively music from a DJ also stand out. On the downside, several reviewers flag inconsistent execution on specific items: fried deviled eggs described as lacking flavor, dry chicken in the two-piece plate, and mac and cheese with a flour taste. A recurring trade-off is slow or relaxed pacing during busy shifts, and multiple reviewers suggest making a reservation for weekends. One diner was offered a to-go cup for their unfinished kool-aid by an attentive server.

Amazing establishment. Everyone was welcoming from the moment you enter. I had smothered chicken, rice and greens. Husband had fried chicken and red beans and rice. Peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream and a senstack side car. Everything was good. Its a vibe that heightened the experience. Dj came in about 5, r&b vibes. I 1000% recommend. Connor was our server, he was very attentive and friendly. I wasn't done with my kool-aid, he offered me one to go! Very nice place, family friendly.

Everything was good! Fried chicken arrived hot! Wings were big. Greens and Black eye peas were hittin. I don’t know what kind of butter that was, but it was really good and the biscuit was really soft and delicious. Faster service at bar. Lastly, music was all that. Soulful and they played alot of cuts.

I stopped by Fixins before heading to LAX as I had a bit of time to kill and had a hankering for some soul food. I wasn’t sure what to expect since this is a celebrity restaurant, but I’m glad I stopped by! I ordered the two-piece fried chicken plate with two sides—I chose okra and collard greens. It comes with complimentary cornbread and what I believe is a blueberry butter. I also ordered a Diet Coke. The chicken was really good. Crispy on the outside without too heavy of a batter, and super juicy on the inside. They also noticeably season the batter, and with the Fixins in-house hot sauce on it the chicken really smacked! The okra and collard greens were both pretty good, too. Not the best of either dish that I’ve ever had in my life, but definitely above average in terms of flavor, texture, and overall cook. The cornbread and blueberry butter were also pretty solid. The interior and atmosphere kind of reminds me of a Chili’s type setup, or a BJ’s, but the vibes inside from the staff and patrons are good. If you’re looking for some good soul food in the heart of LA, Fixins is a pretty solid choice.

The gumbo is a heavy brown gravy rue you could use to smoother chicken in. The ox tails SUPPERB!! The potato salad was good, daughter says the fish was good but what restaurant sales SWAI?? The mac and cheese had had a flour taste the …

Crowded during weekends so best make a reservation. Service is at a more relaxed pace so do be patient. Dining area is pretty big but they are quite popular so be prepared to sit at the patio or the bar counter. Food is decent and well prepared but nothing you can’t find at other places. If it’s too crowded can always consider dining at nearby restaurant if you don’t want to wait.
