Customer Review Summary
Breakfast draws most reviewers, from a traditional English breakfast to mushrooms and tomatoes with an egg on wholemeal toast, which one diner found a good portion that arrived promptly. Another says the kitchen cooked their breakfast perfectly for a fussy eater. Close behind is the staff, described repeatedly as friendly and welcoming, with quick service. Families mention games that suit all ages and say the kids were looked after, and one family called their carrot cake delicious with generous portions. Cold drinks get praise too, including an iced vanilla latte and a lemon iced tea during a heatwave. Several describe a quiet corner in the centre of York, and one visitor got the last table in a full cafe. The one critical review calls the food nice but overpriced, noting a full English, a veggie breakfast and two hot drinks added up to more than expected, and that a husband was unhappy to get only one sausage. Coffee orders arrive with a small extra, a wafer thin crisp biscuit or a piece of cookie.

“I had googled "Best place in York for a healthy breakfast". I am a York resident. Bruks came up and lived up to it's online description. Good coffee served with a delicious wafer thin crisp biscuit. I had mushrooms n tomatoes with an egg on wholemeal toast. Good portion size, tasted good and all promptly served. The cafe is thriving and was full when I left. Staff businesslike yet welcoming. All round a positive experience which I will repeat.”

“Me and my boyfriend came in for 2 cold drinks during the heatwave. The staff were absolutely lovely and quickly made us feel comfortable and welcomed, with quick service. The place has a really great atmosphere in such a great location in the centre of York. We got an iced vanilla latte and a lemon iced tea and we couldn’t recommend them anymore! There are some games to play which definitely sticks out for all ages, especially those with younger children. We will absolutely be coming back, and recommend this gorgeous café to everyone!”

“We stumbled across this busy cafe and we're really pleased we did! It was very busy and we got the last table. There is a good selection of different food types on offer, plenty of drink options, and lots of cake which sadly we couldn't …”

“Lovely little café located in a quiet corner. A cosy and comfortable place with friendly service and warm hospitality. I ordered a latte, which came with a piece of cookie that paired well with the coffee. A nice spot to relax and unwind before continuing my journey.”

“We stumbled across this little cafe down a side street whilst looking to have some breakfast before going in the Jorvick Centre. The staff were extremeley freindly and welcoming all the time we were there. …”
