About Storia Woodford Green
Storia Woodford Green is an Italian restaurant at 8 Johnston Rd in Woodford Green, where the menu is bound like a storybook cover. The dining room runs bigger inside than the street frontage suggests. The kitchen makes its sauces and mixes its own pizza dough in house. Mains include Steak Tagliata served with pasta and a sea bass dish with samphire, chillies and broccoli. Dessert includes a Nutella pizza. Groups can start with a garlic pizzetta to share.

Customer Review Summary
Steak tagliata is the dish diners raise most, served with pasta and praised as excellent, and one reviewer calls it the best. Garlic pizzetta, sea bass ceviche, lemon posset, lotus cheesecake and a Nutella pizza also earn compliments, and Irish coffees went down well. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and attentive, and two reviewers say the separate gluten free menu worked well, with nothing too much trouble. The recurring complaint is kitchen consistency. Two parties received the steak well done or medium-well rather than as ordered, and the sea bass was called overcooked by one group and tasteless by another, though a third found it moist and cooked beautifully. One reviewer found the calamari overcooked with oil that was not fresh, and the prawn and saffron risotto was called short on taste. A group of six decided waiting for replacements was not worth it and ate the steak anyway, while another table had its medium-well steak happily swapped for medium-rare.

“First visit - Disappointed with the calamari starters - over cooked, oil not fresh, mains - sea bass: tasteless. Will not go back.”

“Amazing, so happy to find this hidden local treasure. We had a booking for 4 nice and early. The atmosphere and decor design is really lovely and warm. The food was delicious and high quality, literally without fault. The management team onsite exceeded all expectations and were seen training several new staff members in the customs and ways of restaurant hospitality. I loved to see that. Though the waiter was so keen to put it into practice that he came to ‘check back’ before we’d had a bite.”

“Had a lovely meal with family. I had the sea bass which was cooked beautifully, still moist, with samphire, chillies and broccoli. A few of our party had steak with chips rather than with pasta which they all really enjoyed. Medium rare came out medium rare. Puddings were ok. Granddaughter had Nutella pizza which was a sugar rush delight. Service was really good, very attentive nothing too much trouble. It wasn’t packed so very comfortable and not too noisy. Loos were good as well - clean! - very important! An enjoyable evening had by all.”

“Lovely restaurant, with a super relaxed atmosphere and attentive staff. They have a separate gluten free menu, with a good range of choice, which was really good news for us - and the food we had was excellent. Highly recommended.”
