About The Froize
On The Street in Woodbridge, The Froize is a country food restaurant that cooks with Suffolk produce and follows the seasons, sourcing food locally. The roast lunch is served carvery style, with pork and Yorkshire puddings, and the carving format means a wait when the room is full or many tables share the same booking slot. Booking is needed. Beyond the roasts, the menu runs to lamb shanks, and dessert brings upside-down ginger cake with custard. The restaurant keeps a short opening schedule, so the kitchen's work is concentrated into a few service days. It also hosts live music and entertainment, with links to the local folk and art community.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast is what reviewers raise most, with the pork, crisp and fluffy Yorkshire puddings and a generous portion singled out, and the carvery format noted alongside it. Close behind are the wider choices: lamb shanks, devilled kidneys, salmon, guinea fowl and a vegetarian curry, all described as freshly cooked and locally sourced. Desserts get their own praise, including an upside-down ginger cake with custard, called decadent and indulgent. The owner and staff are repeatedly called friendly and welcoming, with the owner circulating to check on every table. The recurring caveats are cost and waiting. One diner found two courses with a beer and a glass of wine pricey compared with other recent meals, another thought the roast on the pricey side, and two mention a wait at the carvery when everyone shares the same sitting. One reviewer's roast potatoes could have been crispier. One couple who mixed up the lunch and evening menus on a music night were refunded the food tickets without a quibble.

“On 15th May, went for lunch celebrating friend's birthday. As always the food is freshly cooked. Variety of dishes to choose from and they do lovely roasts on Sundays. As I am vegetarian I had lovely curry which I thoroughly enjoyed. My friends enjoyed their food. David and his staff always welcome you with a smile. We have been at The Froize several times and thoroughly recommend it.”

“Wonderful little place to experience great food, a warm welcome and well kept beer. You need to book as this is a very popular place to dine.”

“I'd booked a couple of valentines day tickets here. Unfortunately when we got there we discovered there was a confusion over then menus at our end, and what we thought was the evening menu was in fact the lunch menu. There was nothing on the evening menu my partner could eat - it looked good, but nothing we would ever eat. When we 0spike to the staff about this, they were absolutely wonderfull and refunded the cost of the food tickets without a quibble. They didn't have to do this, it was our mistake. We didn't aks for the music tickets to be refunde, as we could have stayed and listened, but we're both really hungry. I can't fault the customer service and helpful attitude here, and we will be returning, just at lunch time. Completely recommend.”

“We visited with friends for Sunday lunch. The choice was exceptional ... all of the usual options plus lamb shanks, devilled kidneys (I had both!), salmon and a couple of others. Everything was beautifully presented and well cooked. The owner was serving and very attentive, circulating to check in with every table. Desserts were interesting and quite luxurious, both traditional (hot and cold) and more modern. The only downside for us was the cost. With a beer and glass of wine, our two courses came to a little over £80, and we thought it was a bit pricey compared to other places we've been to recently.”

“Absolutely delicious. Everything home made and locally sourced. Staff well informed and extremely helpful. Chef is exceptional, clearly cares deeply about what is producing. Deserts are decadent, indulgent and absolutely delicious and make sure you turn up hungry. Be back very soon delish”
