Dogs are welcome both inside and out, so owners can bring their pets whichever part of the pub they choose. Customer Review Summary

Friendly staff are what reviewers mention most, with several singling out servers who were kind, answered questions about a gluten intolerance, and kept a party of ten from feeling rushed. Close behind is the food: fish, chips and mushy peas, a crispy chicken burger with skin-on fries, and hearty starters, mains and dessert earn praise, and one reviewer calls it home cooked with good ingredients. The crispy BBQ chicken draws the sharpest criticism, described twice as hard, overcooked strips with a drizzle of sauce. Slow service recurs in the complaints: food arriving as diners were getting up to leave, a steak that came cold, tough and gristly, and a dessert that never appeared. One reviewer says dirty plates and empty glasses stayed on the table after two requests to clear them, and that the manager laughed when the problem was raised. Another mentions flies outside. Dogs are welcome inside and out, and one party recalls staff going out of their way during a heatwave to make guests with medical conditions comfortable.

“Fish ,chips and mushy peas, and a Crispy chicken burger with skin on fries, great food (as always) Lily the server was brilliant. The atmosphere was quite quiet when we arrived but as England are playing against Argentina tonight that's no surprise. Thanks all at the Wagon.”

“Visited for the first time and very disappointed. Felt like a total waste of time and money. Arrived and ordered meals for 2 at 4.30pm, 1 person had a starter which took a hour to arrive, despite it being early and not busy when we arrived, crispy bbq chicken strips (farmfoods style thin crispy strips drizzled in heinz bbq sauce) strips were hard and overcooked. Mains then took ages to arrive. Very small portions, not even sure if it was a handful of chips on plate. Plates are huge so it makes the meals look even smaller when there's more empty plate than food. Steak was supposed to be medium rare which it wasn't, couldn't even tell you what it was supposed to be and don't think it was sirloin as stated on menu. Steak was cold, tough and gristly, had to cut that much off it wasn't worth it at all. Gave up waiting for the dessert we had paid for at 7.45pm and left. Staff seemed grumpy, unwelcoming and standoffish. Some other customers seemed to get bigger portions and quicker service, others seemed to get the same experience we was having. The old couple next to us had their meal bought out to them within 20 mins of ordering, large portion but they were also very disappointed in their meal and didn't stay for puddings. Ate inside to avoid flys outside however kept having to swat them away from our plates to the point the old man next to us was standing up trying to kill them all. Food was very over priced when you could go to other pubs in the area for half the price, get hot food instead of cold, that's cooked perfectly and promptly with portions that fill the plate instead of a 3rd of the plate.”

“I came in early so it was very quiet. Bar man was really lovely and friendly. I found a great table, got WiFi, worked for an hour before ordering food. Food came within 10-15 mins and was very tasty. Pub was really bright, clean and well presented. Would defo go again and recommend”

“Had a great Sunday meal at the waggon and horses. Big thank you to Lily who was very kind and had some lovely conversations with us while placing our order. She also answered all our questions as my fiancé has a gluten intolerance.”

“We had a fabulous meal here. It's slightly on the higher side price wise compared to some, but the quality of the food definitely reflects this. You can tell it's all home cooked, with good ingredients. Staff are really friendly and helpful, and it's a nice relaxed atmosphere. I'd definitely recommend this place.”
