Customer Review Summary

Reviewers mention staff most often, describing them as lovely and excellent, and one praises the chef for adapting a breakfast order. The Grain Plate with sliced chicken and the desserts draw praise, as does sitting outside on a sunny day. Complaints include dry, grey fish and bitter, frothy coffee, items out of stock, and staff unsure which dishes were vegan.

“The members of staff at this place are excellent. The menu also offers a great array of choices. My only concern is that it often seems that this place is out of certain menu items, which is frustrating. I concede that it may be difficult to plan, but when menu items are not available it is disappointing. It must also be difficult for your members of staff to have to tell people this because many people can get cross although it is not the fault of members of staff.”

“***I am adding to my review to recommend the Grain Plate with sliced chicken. It is absolutely lovely and nicely presented.*** We attended Mulberry & Thyme in March 2026 and the only menu which was available was breakfast, which made sense because of the time of day at which we attended. The presentation of the desserts was exquisite and it would be a significant challenge for someone to choose to one (or two, if one is inclined). The member of staff who assisted us, Bella, is lovely. I did not want to have a full breakfast and the chef was extremely accommodating, which I appreciated. I enjoyed the food very much and I recommend this place. It was quite crowded for approximately 11:30.”

“Food was ok/variable but overpriced for what it was. Worrying lack of knowledge of what they're selling though. I asked what on the vegan & vegetarian menu was vegan as all marked vegetarian. Two of the staff weren't sure so asked the third and she said it was all vegan. I didn't push it any further as the quiche was clearly made with eggs and I would be very surprised if the goats cheese and sour cream were dairy free (other dishes on the menu). I'm used to soup being the only option but wanted to check if it was ok as menu wasn't clear. Worrying lack of knowledge”

“Very disappointed today, I eat & have coffee here regularly, today the coffee was bitter & so much froth it wasn’t a full cup. The chips were good, the fish was grey & was either overcooked or had been cooked for awhile & kept warm, it was so dry. This is most unusual, normally the fish & chips are excellent.”
