About The Plough Inn
The Plough Inn is a country pub on Woodman Ln in a village near Winchester, run by a landlord and landlady. The kitchen serves a Sunday roast with a choice of pork belly or chicken, a Ploughman's lunch and chunky chips. Daily specials run alongside the regular menu, and a weekday lunch menu covers midweek visits. Dogs are welcome, and a children's play area with climbing frames gives families with younger children room to play. The pub also works as a bespoke wedding venue. Its private events area has hosted a wedding reception with a buffet dinner.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday roasts are what reviewers return to most, with the pork belly and chicken roasts called incredible and a roast dinner with starter and dessert described as nothing lacking. Close behind are the pulled pork burger, venison sausages, and liver and bacon with smoked bacon, plus chunky chips one diner calls the best they have tasted. Weekday lunch and the daily specials also draw praise, along with generous portions. Reviewers repeatedly describe friendly, polite staff and quick service, even for a large group where every dish arrived hot. The dog-friendly welcome stands out, with owners enjoying a relaxed pub where they meet other dog owners, and one pair arrived with two labradors. One couple held their wedding reception here, praising the buffet, the cake, and climbing frames for the kids. No complaints appear in the reviews. One diner's elderly mum, who has a small appetite, finished her entire salmon.

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Plough Inn was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The food was delicious, hearty, and beautifully prepared, exactly what you hope for when enjoying a proper meal in Winchester. Every dish arrived promptly, accurately, and piping hot, which was especially impressive given the size of our group. We were a large group from The George Washington University travelling from Washington, DC, and the service could not have been better. The staff were genuinely welcoming, attentive, and exceptionally organised throughout the meal. The Plough Inn provided such a warm and authentic representation of both Winchester and the UK. The atmosphere, hospitality, and quality of the food made it a highlight of our visit. One hundred percent recommended to anyone looking for a great meal in a welcoming environment.”

“What a great find The Plough Inn is, you must go just for the Chunky Chips alone the best I’ve ever tasted & I’ve had some. I called to ask if dog friendly & the lady who picked up the phone was so lovely as soon as I spoke with her & a real sense of humour. The food was fabulous, the atmosphere is lovely we went at a quiet time but I imagine they get so many repeat customer’s & when busy the atmosphere must be great. Thanks again if we’re back in this neck of the woods we’ll definitely visit again.”
