Quick info
About The Old Bank
The Old Bank is a coffee shop at 749 Ormskirk Rd in Wigan, set in a converted bank where the old vault now works as a side room you can dine in. Couch seats and spaced-out tables fill the main room, and dogs are welcome. Breakfast is served until 2.45 pm and centres on thick-cut bacon, black pudding and poached eggs, with a sausage sandwich and jam toast for lighter orders. The drinks menu runs from coffee to iced coffee and iced matcha. The kitchen and coffee counter share the day with a licensed bar, which pours tap beers and wine once the venue turns to its evening side.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come for breakfast and brunch, with the cooked breakfast the clearest draw: thick-cut bacon, sausages, black pudding and poached eggs, plus a sausage sandwich with fresh, soft bread. Close behind are cheese toast with eggs, skin-on fries, the soup of the day and a basic bagel described as well buttered. Coffee is called good or great, and one reviewer praised an iced matcha that wasn't burnt. Milkshakes and a child's jam toast also get mentions. Several describe friendly, welcoming staff and a calm atmosphere with soft music, and the old bank vault serves as a quirky side room for dining. The complaints are small but specific. One reviewer found the draught beer expensive, and the bar lacked a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Another said the sign is easy to miss from the street and the price list leaves out extras like almond milk. One found it a little chilly inside, and one wished there were pastries. One reviewer ate in the vault room, which a few mention as a highlight.

“Quirky cafe with some really good brunches. Some comfy couch seats, and they even have the old bank safe you can dine in 🤭 It can be a little chilly inside. Nicely spaced seating. Pricing is about average.”
