The food menu covers toasties, paninis, salads and jacket potatoes, including a gluten free cheese and ham toastie for guests who avoid gluten. The tuna melt panini sits among the sandwiches, and teacakes, brownies and shortbreads fill the dessert side. Drinks include a Signature Iced Latte and hot chocolate. Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the friendly, chatty staff, with one server praised repeatedly for taking time over recommendations and making first-time visitors feel welcome. Close behind is the food and drink. Diners name the tuna melt panini, chicken enchilada, and brie and cranberry and bacon toasties, along with brownies, shortbread, and teacakes one reviewer wishes they could buy in packs. Others mention a Signature Iced Latte, a hot chocolate made just the way one customer liked it, and small tea pots. A gluten free cheese and ham toastie also gets a mention. Several describe comfortable chairs, roomy seating, and calm noise levels that suit working on a laptop or uni work, and one parent on maternity leave returns every few weeks with a baby. No recurring complaint appears in the reviews. One reviewer describes watching a newer staff member get stuck making a cappuccino and being helped patiently by a colleague, which is why they choose this place over bigger chains.

“first time me, my boyfriend and my mum went in.. it was very friendly and well spaced out with seating, we got recommended their most popular sandwiches, my boyfriend likes the tuna melt panini and I like the chicken enchilada, we both love their desserts, he loves the shortbreads and I love the brownies 🙂. We had a second visit just today, I asked about their hot chocolate and after they said it’s good, I was tempted and had to buy one to take out, it was delicious and they made it just the way I liked it, I’m absolutely pleased with them selling decaf tea because we drink that at home, when my boyfriend said he tried doing the tuna melt sandwich at home, they took it as a compliment and smiled, they’re very chatty and friendly. Perfect place, brilliant and very friendly staff, delicious food and drink, we always look forward to having our lunch there 🙂🙂🙂❤️❤️❤️”

“Was served by a lovely lady called Kim. When I asked for recommendations for tea. She kindly took the time to help me decide on a new tea to try. Was friendly polite. Did not make me feel I had to rush. Would come again. Also asked her to recommend a desert to have. Which she chose amazingly.”

“We love it here!! Been to a few of the coffee house branches and they’re all great. Its always our go to place for a refreshing stop. The Wigan branch is the one we visit most Saturdays and we love it all the staff are so friendly and helpful and especially Kim today who made us feel so welcome. The teacakes are the beat we have had ( and we love a teacake!) absolutely delicious wish we could buy packs of these ones.”

“Today I popped in to get some uni work done as I love how comfortable the chairs are plus it has a relaxing atmosphere. Today I witnessed something that reminded me of why I love The Coffee House as not only is the customer service such a high standard with staff always happy to engage in a friendly chat. The staff are also very supportive of each other, this morning I was served by Hubert who got a little stuck while making my cappuccino. He was very comfortable turning to Kim for help, the way she spoke to him was lovely to see. She was patient, kind and accepting that he is still learning. This is exactly why I purposely choose The Coffee House over other big coffee chains.”
