Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the food, with a Sunday carvery described as right up there with the best one reviewer has had, finished with a tablet cheesecake. Close behind, fish and chips earns praise for light, crispy batter over flaky haddock, while others enjoyed a vegan macaroni cheese, vegan sticky toffee pudding, prawn cocktail salad, Strathdon chicken and sea bass, though one felt the vegetables could have cooked a little longer. Reviewers also mention a lively, welcoming atmosphere and a renovated interior that one says is much improved under new management. The main complaint concerns the manager, described by one regular as rude, unwelcoming and grumpy, including toward a customer ordering drinks at the bar and toward younger staff. A team lunch brought an overcooked fillet steak and very oily onion rings, and one reviewer objected to dogs close to diners. Others describe friendly staff who moved a table when a hearing-aid battery was dropped and were brilliant with a visiting collie.

“What an unbelievable Sunday carvery.... Right up there with the best I've ever had. They had a tablet cheesecake too which I couldn't resist. And it was excellent. Highly recommend to everyone, and we will be back. Also dog friendly..... The staff were brilliant with our collie.”

“Had a fantastic Friday evening at the Broadstraik Inn! The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, the food was absolutely delicious, and the service was top-notch despite it being a busy night. It’s the perfect spot to kick off the weekend. We'll definitely be back soon.”

“Went for lunch today (Monday) and was surprised that there were a fair few tables already taken. I went for the vegan macaroni cheese (not somethingyou see often!) and vegan sticky toffee pudding and they were both lovely. My friend enjoyed her prawn cocktail salad with chips on the side. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. It would be lovely sitting outside on a sunny day!”

“The staff were helpful and pleasant, even moving a table when I dropped my Hearing-aids battery. After the meal was served, to our large group, they came around to replenish dinks. Always a great apu , when I lived nearby. Now under new management it is maybe even better !”

“Drove past the Inn and liked the look of it so turned round and popped in. Varied menu. Bar 2 snugs and a restaurant. Had Strathdon chicken and sea bass. Very tasty although vegetables could have cooked for 2 more minutes”
