Customer Review Summary
Friendly staff are the most repeated draw. Reviewers describe servers who made a first-time visitor feel welcomed, who checked with the chef when asked for something traditional, and who gave a visiting dog lots of attention. Food comes close behind: one diner praises the Korean Burger, others the sandwiches, and one a meal that arrived quickly on a packed Saturday. Drinks also earn praise, from cask ales and a local brew to a Guinness one reviewer calls outstanding, and the Snug and the little nooks suit a wee drink. Opinions on the food are mixed. White pepper overwhelmed one diner's mash, a gluten-free burger came with a single piece of bacon, and another reviewer found the portions acceptable but not large. One reviewer reports that the ladies toilets had broken locks, fluids on the floor and a smell, after raising the smell with staff weeks earlier. Another visitor, offered neeps and tatties with whisky sauce, found the haggis bold and paired it with a cask ale for lunch.

“Oh my gawd, been a few months since been at Ma Cams, wish I hadn’t gone back. Service, great, food great, but the biggest thing is ur toilets are disgusting. They are exactly the same as weeks ago when I alerted the staff on the smell, locks don’t work, the toilet seats are absolutely disgusting to sit on. They are squint, they Ma Cams are always a favourite, but two weeks in a row when the ladies toilets have never been looked at is shocking. You’re a great pub, but oh my Lordy, my party of six were horrified. What’s so very worrying is if the cleanliness. Both sets of ladies toilets today were awful. They weren’t clean, fluids on the floor, the lock on the ladies don’t work. Surely managers do a check, someone must do a check, when we had our food which was lovely, then we went to the loo. We wished we hadn’t ate. You need to do something, you have three ladies toilets, and they are disgusting. Would be so grateful for your thoughts”

“Did not have food so cannot comment. Service was fast and efficient Good old fashioned Scottish public house. Beer, Guinness, was outstanding.”

“Location was good, allergy awareness was great, staff was lovely. Slightly upset with the food, the mash had an overwhelming amount of white pepper - we assumed this was maybe the pepper shakers fault not crushing the pepper properly. On the GF burger there was only a single piece of bacon - a tasty piece, but disappointingly only a single piece. The Korean Burger was delicious!”
