About Tudor Cafe

Tudor Cafe sits on Bushey Mill Ln in Watford, serving a breakfast and lunch menu across the day. The full English fry-up is a regular order, but the kitchen also turns out cooked mains including cottage pie, lasagne, curries and chilli con carne, which gives the counter more range than a breakfast stop. Plates such as Sausage Chips & Beans, Mixed Grill and Lasagne Chips & Salad arrive with salad on the side, and jacket potatoes come loaded with a filling plus salad and coleslaw. Portions run large. Hot drinks are ordered alongside the food, and orders reach the table within a few minutes even when the room is busy. The interior is basic and plain, in the manner of a classic cafe. There are no reservations here, so customers order at the counter and take a seat. It opens daily during daytime hours.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often praise friendly, quick service and generous portions at low prices, with the jacket potatoes singled out as the real treat, huge with a generous filling and a large salad and coleslaw. Close behind are the full English, described as the best cafe breakfast one diner has had for ages, and the Tudor special, which two colleagues both ordered. Others name the cottage pie, lasagne, curries and a large chilli con carne with salad. Several note the cafe was busy yet food and drinks still arrived without a long wait, with one saying orders came straight away. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, and one reviewer calls the place clean. The one criticism is that the interior is a little basic, though the same reviewer calls the food delicious and no frills. Diners also mention outdoor seating. One reviewer describes a bank holiday fry up at the local greasy spoon that left them far from disappointed.

“This place is a little gem. Friendly staff, great food at a great price. Looking at the food behind to counter its all quality branded ingredients. None of the cheap stuff. Its a place I will be visiting again and would definitely say to …”

“Me and my colleague visited this amazing cafe today when working in Watford. We both had the Tudor special and it was amazing. We drove past and saw it was busy and busy means worthy of a visit, which we wasn't disappointed. As said the food was amazing and so was our hot drinks. We were welcomed on arrival and our orders were dealt with straight away. It only took approximately 5 minutes and we had our food. 🌟 The staff were really friendly had character. We paid £9 for our food and hot drinks. Absolute bargain, I thought I was back in Yorkshire. 😍 Will definitely visit again in the future. All the best.”

“Cannot fault this little gem! Never tried the breakfast, but the cottage pie, lasagne & curries are lovely. Jacket spuds are the real treat here tho.... they are huge with a generous filling, and come with a massive salad & coleslaw. Nom nom!”
