Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast is what reviewers return to most, with turkey, gammon and roast beef singled out for tender meat, well-cooked veg and gravy one diner says they could have drunk, plus a huge portion. Close behind are the Welford chicken, a berry crumble with custard and a Biscoff waffle, and a Christmas menu where allergies and dietary needs were handled well. Several praise a great choice of beers and wine, with beers served in the correct glasses. Reviewers describe friendly, welcoming staff and a warm atmosphere, with hot radiators and a very clean pub. Several say the pub has turned around under new owners after a tired, poorly managed spell under a chain, and one returning couple who had been disappointed by the food, service and atmosphere under the previous management came back delighted. One reviewer arrived just after opening to a busy room, and the staff coped well. A family celebrating a 102nd birthday found the room decorated with banners and balloons.

“Great selection of wine! Had a valentines meal and it did not disappoint! Graeme’s a top bloke bringing traditional pubs back. Not so keen on Grahams though…”

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Five Paws Up!" ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ As a distinguished Chihuahua of refined taste and heroic proportions (despite what the scale says), I recently visited this local pub and had an absolutely tail-wagging evening. From the moment I trotted through the door, the staff treated me less like a tiny dog and more like the mayor of the village. The locals greeted me with smiles, scratches behind the ears, and only a reasonable number of comments about my size. I am, for the record, a perfectly intimidating guard dog. The food was incredible. The aromas alone nearly caused me to levitate from my seat. While my humans enjoyed their meals, I was fortunate enough to receive several highly scientific taste samples. I can confirm that the kitchen operates at a standard I can only describe as "drops food on floor worth waiting for." The atmosphere was warm, friendly, and wonderfully relaxed. There was laughter, good conversation, and absolutely no judgement when I performed a thorough security inspection of every table within a ten-foot radius. Special mention must go to the staff, who were attentive, welcoming, and somehow resisted giving me every sausage in the building. Their self-control was admirable, if slightly disappointing. Overall, this pub offers excellent food, wonderful company, and enough affection to make even the smallest Chihuahua feel ten feet tall. Verdict: 5/5 paws. Would bark politely at the door again. 🐾🍺🌭”

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely Outstanding The Thorn Inn Deserves More Than Five Stars! What can I say about The Thorn Inn other than it is an absolute gem of a pub. From the moment you walk through the door, you’re made to feel genuinely welcome. The atmosphere, food, drinks, service and hospitality are all exceptional. A huge amount of credit has to go to Graeme, the owner, who clearly puts his heart and soul into the place. His warmth and hospitality set the tone for the whole pub, and that same friendly, caring attitude shines through every single member of staff. Nothing is ever too much trouble, and you’re treated like a valued guest rather than simply another customer. The food is superb, beautifully prepared, full of flavour, generous portions and clearly made with real care. Whether you're popping in for a meal or making an occasion of it, the quality is consistently excellent. The drinks are equally impressive, with a great choice and everything served exactly as it should be. Combine that with attentive, friendly service and a wonderful atmosphere and you've got everything a proper pub should be. But what really makes The Thorn Inn special is the people. Graeme and his entire team have created the kind of hospitality that's increasingly hard to find genuine, warm, welcoming and memorable. You arrive as a customer and leave feeling like a friend. If you're looking for fantastic food, great drinks, brilliant service and some of the best hospitality around, The Thorn Inn is an absolute must. A massive thank you to Graeme and every member of staff for everything you do. An exceptional pub, run by exceptional people. I couldn't recommend The Thorn Inn highly enough. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”

“I met up with a friend after 22 years. It was a short reunion, but we chose a great place. The pub was very stylish, so English. I love these pubs. We had delicious food. I recommend this pub. 10/10”
