About Chainak

Chainak is a breakfast restaurant in Walsall at 25 Caldmore Grn, built around South Asian-inspired breakfast served all day. The desi breakfast centres on halwa puri chana, and the paratha is hand made rather than frozen. Chana also comes with masala eggs and paratha for a lighter plate, and the menu runs an English breakfast alongside the desi options. Karak chai is among the hot drinks. Everything on the menu is halal, so the kitchen suits guests who eat only halal food. Seating is two booths, four tables and a couch set-up.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often return to the desi breakfast, with puri halwa chana, masala eggs and chana, and the "Not So Desi Breakfast" all named, and several describe the food as fresh, tasty and generous in portion. Close behind are the keema naan, a burger, chicken in naan and spicy chicken and rice, with the whipped coffee, karak chai and karak coffee singled out among the drinks. Reviewers also mention the San Sebastian and Matilda cakes. Many call the prices very good, and one notes each breakfast came with a hot drink. A few reviewers mention a handwritten, not frozen paratha. Complaints are mostly small. The fudge cake, falooda and rashers were sold out on some visits, and the English breakfast fried eggs were called bland. One reviewer found the halwa could be better and another found the sausage patty dry. Seating was described as limited, with one person serving the whole room, parking as challenging, and one reviewer's Gol Gappe arrived just as they were leaving. One reviewer says the owner gave a cold drink on the house after the till had closed.

“Today, I had breakfast at Chainak, and the food was absolutely amazing! The flavours were delicious, the portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable. “I visited Chainak and tried their spicy chicken and rice, which was recommended by a member of staff, along with a desi breakfast. Both dishes were absolutely delicious—fresh, full of flavour, and cooked to perfection. The quality of the food exceeded my expectations, and it's difficult to put into words just how good it tasted. The service was outstanding, with friendly and attentive staff who made the experience even better. The prices are also excellent and offer much better value than many of the other "brands". I’ll definitely be returning and would highly recommend Chainak to anyone looking for great food and exceptional service.”

“A really nice Pakistani base breakfast place right outside of Walsall town centre. Serving a somewhat simple and yet diverse menu. The interior is very pretty with an assortment of fake flowers and greenery on the ceilings and walls and warm lighting. There’s two booths and four tables as well as the couch set up for seating, which is nice but seemed a bit lacking as there was a lot of people coming in who didn’t really have an option to sit where they wanted to sit. The service was good. There was one person helping the whole restaurant taking orders and serving the meals and they were pretty nice and chill. The actual menu as I said, it was pretty simple, but also diverse offering a good amount of options. We were looking to get rashers, but they were out for the day. We had the Desi breakfast and the English breakfast, both of which were served pretty quickly. While, everything was tasty, the fried eggs on the English breakfast seemed a bit bland, and the hashbrowns weren’t anything special. The masala eggs and Chana were very good but might be better served on wider bowls just so it’s easier to eat with your hands and scoop up with the paratha. The price was also very good each item was £7.50 and also came with a hot drink, which is really good.”

“I recently visited Chainak Restaurant and had such a great experience. The food was honestly delicious — I tried the butter chicken pasta, loaded chips, double kebab roll, samosas, and a chicken curry bowl, and everything was full of flavour and really satisfying. The drinks (Blue Hawaii and Blue Raspberry) were also really nice and refreshing. The atmosphere was a big highlight too — great music, cool vibes, and a really welcoming environment. What made the experience even better was the service. Anisha was so helpful and kind, she really made us feel comfortable and looked after throughout. Everything being halal is a huge plus as well. I’ll definitely be coming back and would recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for good food and a nice vibe.”
