About Chaiiboss

Chai is brewed on site at Chaiiboss, a cafe on Milton Street in Walsall, where the karak and desi chai are made properly rather than mixed from powder. The food runs from a desi breakfast of paratha, masala omelette and curry chaat through to beef biryani, served in a large portion of meat and rice, with burgers and fries filling out the savoury side and a range of cold and hot drinks beyond the chai. Orders are placed at the counter, so no booking is needed. The doors open daily. Takeaway is set up for customers eating off site, and orders can be placed by phone ahead of collection.

“Honestly, I thought I'd give it a chance and went with something basic. I offered a fish finger burger with chilli sauce. The fish was fine, the bun was probably cardboard and the sauce was sweet. Also ordered massala fries, but it was just fries tossed in that same, sweet sauce, not the spice blend i was expecting. The only thing that wasn't a disaster was the Karak Chai. Great tasted. But then ruined by the cup. I ordered it to take away but it was served in just a standard cup, which caused some of the Chai to spill in my car. Overall, I honestly can't go lower. Had I the option, this would be a 1 out of 10.”

“Me and the kids and extended family love this place, it's family friendly, and staff are polite and welcoming. It's like a home to home experience. Food selections are great and tea is awesome!”

“Bought tea from here, they gave the most temu penny pinching cup you can buy the lid didn't even fit on it, single walled cardboard toilet roll. Cup leaked everywhere while in the holder in the car soaked my interior. Im never coming back here again. The shop looks like the interior was fitted by a blind person. Only reason to come here was pearls is near by. Now that reason is gone too. Stay away.”

“Ordered a hot and spicy chicken burger as advertised on their menu. Not been told anything when buying and been charged for the full amount. When I came home found they hadn’t gotten my order right. They gave me a chicken steak burger a ready made burger which was a cheap horrible one. I took it back to be told they don’t do the spicy burger which was ordered and what I was charged for by the same person serving. What bs is that? The loaded fries were plain and fried in the same oil which tasted like fish. A waste. No replacement or apology. Horrible customer service and won’t be coming back.”

Customer Review Summary

The karak chai anchors most visits, praised as authentically brewed on site rather than the powdered version, and even reviewers who disliked everything else single it out. Close behind sit the breakfasts: a desi breakfast of paratha, masala omelette and curry chaat described as full of flavour with the paratha not overdone, omelette rolls called the best for a quick breakfast, and a hot chocolate one regular rates among the best tried locally. Several praise the beef biryani for big portions and plenty of meat, while one describes the Boss special chaat, a mix of samosa and papdi, as crunchy rather than soggy and piping hot. The burgers draw the sharpest criticism: a fish finger burger with a bun likened to cardboard and a sweet sauce that also coated the masala fries, and a hot and spicy chicken burger that arrived as a pre made chicken steak burger with no replacement or apology. Two reviewers describe takeaway chai leaking from flimsy cups into their cars, and one found the room cold with heat coming only from a small portable radiator.
