About Smokehouse
On Wood St in Wakefield, Smokehouse is a restaurant that opened in 2011 as a dedicated BBQ restaurant. The menu has since widened to pair smoked meats with Middle Eastern and Mediterranean tapas, so a table can mix small plates with barbecue. All of it sits on a large menu with many options. Tables can be pre-booked, and groups can reserve ahead.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers center on the Full House burger, a stack of beef patties, pulled pork, bacon and brisket that one calls outstanding, though the same reviewer found the brisket a little dry and the bun sweet but quick to fall apart. Close behind are the BBQ ribs and BBQ combo, praised for generous portions and filling plates, along with the sweet potato fries, coleslaw and nachos. The pizza burger, Yorkshire pudding burger, spring rolls and grilled jerk chicken also get mentions, and several describe the menu as full of choices. The recurring complaint is waiting. One reviewer says drinks took a good 15 minutes and food at least 40, with desserts arriving later than promised, and another also waited a while for food, while a third found it short. A few call prices a bit expensive, though others find the portions good value. Reviewers also mention outside huts for dogs and a table reserved for a large group where everyone left with empty plates.

“Went on Thursday evening to celebrate a friends Birthday. There were 6 of us and we pre-booked the table. The service/staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble, they were attentive but not over bearing. Great selection of drinks and reasonably priced cocktails. The food…… where to start, an amazing Menu, giving so many different options and when the 6 meals arrived, freshly cooked they were all outstanding. Very generous portions, full of flavour absolutely delicious. The Yorkshire pudding burger, the Smokehouse burger and the Smokehouse burger with cheese were 3 of the 6 meals, please see the pics below. We can’t recommend this establishment highly enough. Give it a go you won’t be disappointed!”

“My partner and I stopped in for a bite of food before the cinema- between lunch and dinner time. This place had great variety which is exactly what we were looking for. The food was delicious (we got nachos, spring rolls, pizza burger, and grilled jerk chicken) and portions were great. We will definitely be by again to sample more of the foods!”
