Quick info
About Qubana
Qubana is a Cuban-themed grill restaurant and bar in Wakefield, set in a former bank at 1-3 Wood St. The old vault now serves as a private dining room for groups, and the vault doors still work as doors. Reservations are required. Tapas plates sit alongside mains on the menu, and the bar makes margaritas and cocktails. A lunchtime menu adds a club sandwich and wraps, and most of the menu marks its gluten-free options. Live music plays in the evenings on occasion, including tribute acts.

Customer Review Summary
Tapas is what diners raise most, called tasty, with cocktails close behind, especially the margaritas one regular kept returning for. Mains also draw praise: a fall-off-the-bone lamb shank, a filling steak, and club sandwiches at lunch, while the rhubarb and apple crumble and sticky toffee pudding were called delicious. Staff are described as friendly and helpful, and several mention good value. Complaints are small but specific. One table was never checked on and was not offered a dessert menu, the beef short rib and arroz con leche had run out for another, the lamb could have used more gravy, and one margarita was poorly made and less well presented than on earlier visits. One reviewer suggests booking in advance for meals at busy times. Diners also remark on the former bank, where the vault doors still serve as doors and a tour was given.

“Had lunch with my son last Monday which was wonderful and very good value for money. The two young men who served us were very professional and exceptionally friendly and helpful (one was called Orlando and apologies I have forgotten the name of the other young man). 10 out of 10 for everything !”

“Qubana is a great place to go if you are in Wakefield. The restaurant is outstanding, good atmosphere, gentle and efficient crew, plenty of options on Menu and delicious and unique food. Enjoy it.”

“The tapas was great, all food came out within a reasonable time and was very tasty. We didn’t receive a check back during our meal which made us feel like the team had moved on from wanting to serve us. We both wanted something sweet after our tapas but we were not offered a dessert menu - I would not expect to ask for this in a restaurant as this is a prime upselling opportunity for your FOH. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly but not quite as attentive as we would have liked. We will be visiting again as the price for the quality of food is top tier.”

“A beautiful environment for a very classy menu. Wonderful mains and some very tasty tapas plates. The cocktails went down a treat too and one thing is for certain, we'll be back”

“The new menu is amazing, the service was great, the staff are really friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the tapas and cocktails and will definitely be back. Everything in the picture was gluten free, almost everything on the menu was either gluten free or a gf option available. Highly recommend.”
