Customer Review Summary
Coffee is the most frequent draw at BEAR, described as smooth, strong and well brewed, with no scorched beans, and one reviewer bought a bag of beans to take home. Close behind is the brunch menu, where reviewers name the Eggs Benedict on sourdough, the bacon and egg brioche, pancakes, the breakfast burger, the full house breakfast and the avocado smash. One diner on a ketogenic diet praised a chicken parmesan with halloumi swapped for fries, and another picked out the banana bread matcha. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, and the atmosphere relaxed, with booths at the back and outside seating. The main complaint is value. One reviewer says prices have risen over the past year, and another found a bacon and egg bun room temperature and a full breakfast lukewarm, arriving well after the first plate. Staff gave little response when the uneaten food was pointed out. A couple of reviewers add that ordering through the app made service easier.

“Lovely hot chocolate and nice atmosphere, but food absolutely not worth the price - paid £8.50 for a bacon and egg bun which arrived room temperature and wasn’t very nice. Friend had the full breakfast at around £15 which also was lukewarm and very expensive, didn’t taste great so didn’t get eaten and arrived long after mine was served, which is fine except it wasn’t warm so not sure what took the time. We did mention this to the staff as they could see the food was uneaten but didn’t get much response but at least they know”

“The food and coffee is delicious, always beautifully presented. The prices seem to have increased a lot in the last year or so however the atmosphere and experience makes it worth it for a treat. The service is okay, it’s much better now you can order via the app. The majority of staff are friendly and polite. I would recommend and will be visiting again.”

“Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. I'm 2 weeks in to a ketogenic diet and asked about options. Chef Chris was on a break and jumped in. He's a former pt as well as a trained chef so recommended the chicken parmasan (milanese in my vocab) with a green salad (oil dressing), and fries swapped for halloumi. Great choice! He knew the macro's, understood why I'd asked and was v genuine and helpful. The rest of the staff were awesome to but not as awesome as my delicious Chicken Parmesan. Highly recommend and definitely a big up to Chef Chris who helped me to keep up with my macros”

“What a great lunch & coffee spot in Uttoxeter. Lovely friendly staff & a relaxed atmosphere. Much bigger than it looks from the outside with booths at the back & outside seating too. Had full house breakfast and avocado smash which was freshly cooked & delicious. Great tasting coffee made to perfection, no scorched beans!! Will definitely be returning soon.”
