About The Fox
The Fox is a bar on West Portland Street in Troon, named after the twelfth hole at Royal Troon Golf Course. The taps carry Tennent's tank beer straight from the brewery, and cocktails and freshly ground coffee sit alongside it. The food menu includes Haggis Bites and chicken wings, with vegetarian and vegan options in the mix. Booth seating gives groups and couples somewhere to settle in. Dogs are welcome, with an area at the front set aside for them and water bowls provided. Live music and events, including a DJ, are part of the programme. The bar sits close to the beach, with parking nearby.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the friendly, efficient staff, who are described as welcoming even when very busy, and the dog-friendly setup, with a front area for dogs, water bowls and one booth where a dog felt safe. A server offering a dog chicken instead of the usual sausage earned one reviewer's five stars. On the food, the haggis bites and haddock pieces with chips draw praise, close behind the chicken basket, described as crispy, hot and generous. Tacos, a pastrami bagel and bangers and mash are also called lovely, and the menu is described as varied, well priced and including vegetarian and vegan options. Cocktails come up too, including a Northern Lights made correctly once the staff were told the ingredients. Live music and a DJ get mentions as a bonus. The one recurring complaint is minor: the chicken wings and fish burger carried too much batter, which cost one reviewer a star, though the cajun fries were nice. One reviewer also noted the two floor staff looked under pressure on a busy evening, yet the service stayed friendly, and a manager squeezed in a party of eight and their dog.

“Was in Troon area for last 2 days of holidays and decided to pop in here. Wasn't disappointed at all.😎👍 Place is really unique inside and is surprisingly spacious.was quite busy for Monday evening but was 28 degrees outside in full summer sun.was greeted by very friendly yet under pressure waitress, was seated at table for 2,given menu.A wee later got food n drink order taken.A while later food arrived.Haggis Bites were divine.Haddock pieces with chips were gorgeous. My requested Northern Lights cocktail, although unknown by staff was made perfectly(whiskey, peach schnapps, orange juice & cranberry over ice once told contents) and was fantastic addition to the meal... Overall a great experience, enjoyed my relaxed time there.Great service by two floor staff who were severely under pressure during my visit.left a good tip as Work in same trade in Ireland, so get the pressure. But Can see why place is so popular. 5 stars all round. Defo be back.Keep up great work.if ya haven't had Haggis bites , try them😍 😎🍹👍”

“Close to the beach. The staff were welcoming and friendly. I ordered the chicken basket and it was honestly really good: crispy, hot, and generous portion. Definitely coming back next time I’m in the area.”
