About Blues Cafe

Blues Cafe is a traditional, licensed cafe bar in Swindon, at 51 Havelock St. Breakfast is served all day, and the kitchen lets customers swap items on the plate to suit their own order. Fried bread is one of the items on offer. The vegetarian sausages are made from vegetables rather than imitation meat, so the cooked breakfast works for people who skip meat. Portions on the breakfast plates are large. Coke floats are also on the drinks list.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers return to Blues Cafe mainly for the big breakfasts, with the all day breakfast and its swappable items singled out, along with fried bread and the huge portions that left some diners taking leftovers home. Close behind are the friendly, welcoming staff, whom several say treated them like family, and prices described as good value. The latte and a coke float also earn praise, and one reviewer enjoyed eating outside in the morning sunshine. Others like its traditional, no pretence character. The complaints are specific. One reviewer asked for runny eggs and received hard ones, and the most critical review found the toast sickly with butter, the sausages budget, and the latte tasting funny compared with chain coffee shops, with no music adding to the dull feel. That reviewer still called it a place for locals who don't mind cheap food. Another reviewer recalls a staff member handing over scissors to open a sauce sachet.

“Amazing yummy food, they let us swap different items on the all day breakfasts which was very nice. Breakfasts had lots of food and lots of variety for very good price. Coke floats aswell for very good price and very yummy. Fried bread is great!! 10/10 everything was yummy ( also, the vegetarian sausages are vegetables not fake meat)”

“Really enjoyed my visit to Blues Cafe in Swindon. It’s a lovely place to enjoy a good English breakfast, especially sitting outside in the morning sunshine—it’s very relaxing. The breakfast was delicious, and the latte was excellent too. I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Definitely hope to visit again! ☕🍳”

“What makes Blues special is that it’s exactly what it says on the tin — no pretence, no fake grandeur. Just a proud, traditional cafe. The owner was incredibly warm and welcoming. Food was great value. Breakfasts are huge — my eyes were definitely bigger than my belly and I couldn’t finish, though my companion managed. The only let-down was the eggs: we asked for runny and they came hard. Still, definitely worth a revisit.”

“In an exceedingly corporate and soulless market places like these are what we should cherish, hidden in a corner is this somewhat of an oddity. A licensed cafe bar akin to the likes you see on the continent. It has what most coffee places and the like lack a soul. And the prices aren't half bad either”
