About The Pulpit
The Pulpit is a pub and Broadtown Brewery tap room at 7 Devizes Rd in Old Town, Swindon. The bar pours Broadtown ales alongside guest beers and ciders, with a range of cask and real ales, and Budvar is on draught. Spirits are part of the offer too. A monthly spoken word and poetry meet gives the room a regular stage for local writers and listeners, and live music is on the programme as well. The venue is small with a lower capacity, so the layout suits a modest crowd rather than a large audience. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the beer range, with Broadtown ales, stouts, guest beers and cask ales praised, and one drinker noting a great pint of Budvar. Others mention a Weissbier, a nice cider and a glass of wine. Friendly staff come up repeatedly, and several describe a friendly, lovely atmosphere, with outdoor seating adding to it and one calling the decor beautiful and cosy. Live music on Wednesdays and a monthly spoken word and poetry meet draw a following, though one reviewer notes the layout does not suit a large audience. The main complaint comes from visitors who knew the pub before the change of owners. Two say the real ales are not up to the earlier quality and cost more than elsewhere in the area, and one found the dark green decor oppressive and the atmosphere odd, which put them off returning. One reviewer calls a Wednesday set of original songs about Swindon a great night out.

“Has a great range of cask ales, and on Wednesdays, live music. When I visited, Canute's Plastic Army were playing, they sang a set of their own Swindon related compositions. A great night out. On the Downside, the venue layout doesn't support a large audience.”

“Great.little pub, that has live music, and a monthly spoken word,/ poetry meet, on the last Wednesday of every month. Friendly staff and lower capacity means it's lovely place to meet and chat with friends. Lovely landlady Linda very much present and supports local causes. Can recommend 👌🍺 Didn't get any photos, will get some next time.”
