Customer Review Summary
Desserts draw the most praise, especially Le Chocolat, called incredible, along with home made crème brûlée and ice creams. Close behind are the couscous royale, which one diner says matched a dish eaten in France twenty years ago, and the scallops. Reviewers also name the fillet of beef, French onion soup, mussels, duck, sea bass, dauphinois potatoes and triple cooked chips. They describe hearty, authentic French food cooked fresh in house, with good vegan and vegetarian options, friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere that suits birthdays and treats. One reviewer advises saving room for dessert. The one caveat comes from a family with children aged 9 and 13: there is no children's menu, so they used modified dishes, and they note that children with unsophisticated palates might not be as well catered for. The same reviewer finds the location out of keeping with the food. Several mention the owner regularly asking how the meal was going, and one couple was fitted in at short notice after an email.

“Stunning meal tonight for my birthday. Friendly servers who were attentive, and the owner regularly asked how our meal was going which was really nice. Food was incredible, so flavourful! The couscous was out of this world, I can see why it’s noted on the menu as Michèle’s favourite. If you’re looking for great, hearty, French cuisine, that’s clearly made with love, it’s a place you must visit! Thank you very much for a splendid meal ❤️”

“Ate the best fillet of beef steak I have ever had here last night, triple cooked chips & the scallops were amazing- the whole menu is delicious- consistently fantastic really high quality dining. So wasn’t surprised when I heard the chef was previous Michelin star holder. I think people think its really fancy & you have to get all dressed up to the nines- not at all, smart but casual perfectly fine. Its our favourite go to if we want something special, if family come for a visit or birthday treat or just fancy a really really nice meal. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, the Service is always perfect, attentive and discreet - great choice on the menu ( good vegetarian options) . Desserts are amazing! If you live in Swansea & have never tried - you got to go - missing out on an absolute gem & if you are in the area on hols & looking for somewhere I can confidently say this place serves delicious food! Love it - its our go to place for over a decade never ever had any issues - best food & great service every visit- well deserved 5 stars across the board from us”

“This is the best restaurant in Swansea. Authentic and delicious French food at it's best -- not fussy, not pretentious, but down-to-earth, accessible, rich, and made with love. I had the couscous royale, which I recommend heartily. It made me think of the first time I had couscous twenty years ago during a semester abroad in France. The couscous royale at Pant y Gwydr is the first dish that's ever matched it. Nearly brought tears to my eyes.”
