Stables Kitchen
Quick info
About Stables Kitchen
Stables Kitchen is a breakfast restaurant in Stockport, offering full breakfasts such as bacon and sausage sandwiches alongside table service inside. A front counter separately offers brownies, treats, and cakes, along with a coffee trailer set up outside, though the two operate as separate businesses, so drinks or cakes bought outside cannot be carried inside. Gluten-free options are accommodated, and a cauliflower soup appears among the specials. The entrance is step-free and wheelchair accessible, and high chairs are available for families with young children. Outdoor seating suits those who want to eat in the open air, and dogs are welcome there. Reservations are recommended for the inside dining room, while the outside trailer can be visited without booking. The restaurant sits open daily, near Bramall Hall, where visitors can walk the grounds before or after eating.

Customer Review Summary
Cauliflower soup draws particular praise, described by one diner as creamy and consistently good, and full breakfasts also come up repeatedly as good value, though one reviewer noted over-poached eggs. Coffee and scones get mentioned favorably too, alongside brownies and treats at the counter, and the gluten-free accommodation and friendly table service earn notice. Against this sits a recurring frustration over the inside/outside split, with several reviewers describing being refused entry indoors after buying takeaway drinks or cakes outside, one calling it a "rip off," and another caught out by conflicting closing times between the inside kitchen and an outdoor takeaway counter run separately. Service slowness also recurs, with one diner waiting around 20 minutes for a drink order that was then forgotten, and another reporting undercooked food across three dishes that went uneaten. A rose and pistachio slice was called very dry by one reviewer, and another criticized the refusal to serve iced lattes despite having the equipment. Despite these complaints, several reviewers still describe returning, with one noting the walks around Bramall Hall and the restaurant's atmosphere as part of a repeat visit.

“Poor service, no atmosphere and awful undercooked food. This is one of 3 meals we ordered. We couldn't eat any of them, they all went in the bin!”

“The most ridiculous policy of not serving iced lattes (even though they have the facilities to make them) because the owners want to promote the Illy coffee slushie instead. Just plain silly, annoying and unnecessary.”

“Nice lunch inside and friendly staff and accommodating for gluten-free. We also often get coffee outside from the coffee trailer. Only thing that would make life easier for customers is if there could be more flexibility on being able to move inside if bought drinks from outside. Generally all great though!”

“Haven't been to the cafe before but took an elderly relative. Initially we sat outside as it was warm in the sun. When the sun went in my relative was cold so we decided to move inside only to be told that we couldn't as we'd already bought take away drinks and 2 cakes outside. I appreciate the price to take away is slightly cheaper than inside but when I asked if I could pay the difference I was told I couldn't as I'd already paid for paper cups..... absolute shambles of a place, a rip off too. Far nicer Cafes in other Stockport Parks that appreciate customers needs and look after our elderly.”

“I arrive 15.05. Kitchen closes at 15.00, they said. But there is the takeaway service. Which is outside only... So you have to order outside and queue outside. I place an order at 15.10, my sandwich arrived at 15.35... I showed them the Google Maps page that says "CLOSES AT 16.30". They say: "16.30 is only outside. Inside closes at 15.30. It's two different businesses" [SPOILER: it isn't]. The Company doing this convoluted business is called Mosaic Catering. Really amazing place ruined by extremely poor management :(”
