Customer Review Summary
Diners single out the fresh, beautifully presented meze and mains at Shaam Lebanese Restaurant, with the baklava and humous dips repeatedly praised and the chicken kebab noted as a miss for one reviewer seeking stronger spice. Several describe attentive, friendly service and a clean, atmospheric setting, with one mentioning a birthday cake brought out with a candle. Close behind are the generous portion sizes and the BYO policy, allowing diners to bring their own drinks. A recurring complaint centers on a dispute over an optional service charge, with one reviewer reporting staff refused to remove it after bringing extra bread not ordered. Another notes occasional flies.

“One of our favourite restaurants. Food is always perfect, great for sharing and the kids will always find something they are happy with too. The staff are always polite and helpful. The restaurant decor is great and atmospheric and the place is always spotlessly clean.”

“TL;DR: good food, but staff tried to stop us removing service charge which is OPTIONAL. The food was actually nice, which means it’s a shame to rate this place so low because the server claimed when we asked to remove a nearly £7 service charge they gave us extra bread without adding it to the bill, keeping in mind we ORDERED ONE. If they bring us more without us asking, you assume it’s part of the item. But apparently not, and that’s justification to add a huge service charge onto the bill we can’t remove? No thank you! We won’t be returning here again. It’s a shame because the food was actually nice, but I’m not being scammed out of my money over something we didn’t order.”

How this listing is sourced
- Where the data comes from
- Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
- How it stays current
- Every listing is re-checked on a recurring crawl, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
- How it is ranked
- Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
