About Lakeside Bar and Restaurant
Lakeside Bar and Restaurant is a bar in Stamford on Main Bank, set on a Tallington site with lodges and watersports. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and is open daily. The Sunday carvery comes with plenty of meat and sides, including parsnips and roast potatoes, while the rest of the menu runs to burgers and fish and chips. A selection of beers is available at the bar. Dogs are welcome in the beer garden, which gives visitors with pets somewhere to stop on a site otherwise built around lodges and time on the water. Events and entertainment run regularly. The venue also takes group bookings, including parties of 12 and 40.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return for the carvery, praising the amount of meat and sides, with the parsnips and roast potatoes singled out, and a Sunday family carvery described as a regular tradition. Close behind are the fries and burgers, a chicken Caesar salad with succulent chicken and crispy croutons, fish and chips, and southern fried chicken described as crisp outside and properly cooked inside. Several mention a relaxed, warm atmosphere, a good selection of beers, and a beer garden one reviewer enjoys with their dogs. Many say the place feels transformed since the change in management, and reviewers repeatedly mention the entertainment and events. Staff are called friendly and welcoming, and no reviewer raises a complaint. One reviewer notes a brioche bun is not their preference. Reviewers describe the staff adding three extra places to a booking at short notice without fuss, and another says the chef asked diners at their tables about scotch eggs, which appeared as a special the next day.

“We recently booked the watersports at Tallington and then visited the bar as a group of 40. Food (carvery) was excellent and drinks were reasonably priced.”

“Such a beautiful place with a truly special atmosphere. I absolutely love restaurants like this — warm, cozy, and full of charm. The moment you walk in, you feel relaxed and welcome. It’s the kind of place where time slows down and you can simply enjoy good food, good company, and the whole experience. You can see how much love and passion has gone into creating this place. Can’t wait to come back again!”

“⭐️UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT⭐️ Wow! What a massive difference! The atmosphere here has improved so much—it’s got such a great vibe now. They have an excellent selection of beers to choose from, and the food was a real highlight. Everything was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Definitely worth a visit!”

“The place is under new management so ignore the old out of date negative reviews. My wife and I are buying a lodge on the site and have been into the bar/restaurant most days in the last two weeks. The food is great, the fries are to die for😊 the burgers are also great though I’m not a fan of Brioche buns that seem to be the fashion everywhere. We had a chicken Ceaser salad yesterday that had plenty of succulent chicken and bacon and a variety of leaves in the salad along with halved small tomatoes and crispy croutons. It was soon clear that the customer service is brilliant, Zoe had my wife’s tea preference ( a large pot of water and just one teabag) memorised on day one as returning the next day she was into the tea preparation pretty much as I got to the counter 😊👍 Louise, who seems to be the main chef, makes a mean scotch egg. It shows how responsive they are to customer feedback as Louise was coming out to people at tables and asking opinions on whether scotch eggs would go down well and the following day scotch eggs were there as a Special on the Menu. Very nice they were too! We have also tried the fish and chips, great and the southern fried chicken, lovely. Southern fried chicken can often be a bit ‘dried out’ but this was nicely crisp on the outside while properly cooked on the inside. All the guys and girls that work there have, in our three to four weeks of visiting, been very friendly and helpful and there are loads more social activities going on that bodes well for the future development of the place. We can’t wait to move in 😊”
