Customer Review Summary

Burgers draw the most praise, with one couple calling both of theirs delicious, and several reviewers describe the food as tasty and hot. Close behind are the free coffee refills, called a massive plus, while cheesy chips, pasta and scampi and chips also get mentions. One reviewer would not recommend the chips unless oven-style ones appeal. Reviewers describe the bar staff as friendly and chatty, the beer as well maintained, and the garden with privacy booths as lovely. The main complaints concern service. One breakfast diner ordered on the app, was told the order should have been collected from the bar and that staff were short, then received cold food with items missing from a plate. Another found service slow, and one reviewer describes the person in charge as loud and abrupt with her own team. A Saturday lunchtime with football fans left the pub loud with no spare seat. One regular says it has declined lately. One reviewer recalls a bartender making them spin a wheel to decide how many Guinness and shandies to order, and it landed on five.

“Came here for breakfast with my partner, chose a table and ordered on the app. 20mins later I went up to the bar to ask if they had my order? Only to be told that I should of picked it up!! And they dont have enough staff on. There was noone waiting at the bar and only a handful of customers in, with 3 FOH team members working. I was appaled at her response as I work in the industry and I would never dream of responding that way to one of my customers. When I arrived back at the table with the drinks I collected, food was being delivered to the table. There were items missing off one of the plates and the food was cold. We normally go to the Drappers and I think we will continue to go there.i will not be returning to the collage arms.”

“Not the best. Slow service. Lipstick on the glasses. Standard town centre Wetherspoons. Food was reasonable for the price. I had a pasta and my friends had scampi & chips and some burger concoction. No complaints.”

“I'm a regular in here. And omg what a state it has become. Dirty tables for hours with glasses and plates whilst the staff stand at the end of the bar chatting and drinking. Especially Sandra who always stands there moaning about her back or lagging of customers. Also the disabled toilet what a joke that is. Pee and toilet paper all over the floor area not cleaned. I went in at 6pm and according to the schedule on the door no one had been in to clean it since 1om this place has gone down hill very rapidly in a matter of weeks. It used to be a fun place to meet friends but is rapidly declining in a big way. And if you want good food go to the drapers. Because last time I had a breakfast in the college arms with friends we were all sick the next day so avoid the food at all costs”

“Today I decided to pop into spoons to get myself some cheeky cheesy chips and guinness and shandy’s. I got there and was served by jamal with TWO LL’s, he was very enthusiastic, he made me spin a wheel to see how many guinness and shandy’s i should get…it was 5. It was an entertaining experience seeing his FIRST EVER attempt making guinness and shandy and feel so honoured. live laugh love spoons.”

“Came in the other day to get a few drinks and food with a mate, food was tasty and hot. Venue was clean and I had a lovely conversation with the lady at the bar (i think Anna was her name). Very chatty and incredibly friendly, made some good recommendations and I definitely do think the service made my experience all the better. Great job, keep it up!!”
