About St Andrews Links Clubhouse & Tom Morris Bar & Grill
St Andrews Links Clubhouse & Tom Morris Bar & Grill is a Scottish restaurant in St Andrews that overlooks the 18th fairway of the Old Course. Table seating faces the golf course, so diners eat with the fairway in front of them. The kitchen cooks with traditional Scottish produce, and haggis is on the menu alongside sandwiches and salads. Porridge is served at breakfast, and soup of the day and onion rings fill out the lighter options. Tables can be booked through the online reservation calendar or by contacting the restaurant directly, and some tables are held for walk-ins on a first-come, first-served basis. A Christmas menu is offered in the festive season.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the view over the Old Course and the 18th fairway, usually over lunch, and several call the setting perfect or fabulous. Food praise is specific: smoked salmon and baked goats cheese crottin from a Christmas menu, a turkey dinner with all the trimmings, crispy onion rings, fresh soup of the day, and porridge at breakfast. One reviewer calls the cauliflower dish with flatbreads and mango chutney the best thing on the menu, while another finds the shrimp baguette tasty but not exceptional. Many describe friendly, quick service, including a supervisor who was kind to a family's baby. Service is also the main complaint. Two groups of travelers describe dismissive waitstaff, and another reviewer found the food mediocre and the service very slow. One party of five says a request for more water drew an eye roll, and that the refilled bottle was set down so abruptly that water splashed out of the top.

“Unfortunately, our experience at Tom Morris was incredibly disappointing because of the service. There were five of us dining for lunch, and from very early on, we all felt as though the staff simply did not want us there. What made it so unpleasant wasn’t necessarily what was said, but the attitude and manner in which we were treated. For example, I asked our waitress how heavily dressed the Caesar salad was, and she responded, “Well, it’s a heavy dressing,” in such a dismissive way that I was taken aback. Throughout the meal, there was very little eye contact or warmth, and even simple requests seemed to be met with irritation. At one point, our water bottle was empty, so I politely asked if we could have more water. The waitress visibly rolled her eyes, took the bottle without saying anything, and when she returned, put it down so abruptly that water actually splashed out of the top. We had originally been a party of four and were seated at a table overlooking the golf course. When we added our driver as a fifth guest, we understood that we needed to move tables. One of my friends apparently asked if another table with a view might be available. I wasn’t present for that particular interaction, so I can’t say exactly what happened, but from that point forward it felt as though the staff was irritated with our group and that attitude continued throughout the entire meal. All five of us independently came away with the same impression: we felt unwelcome and as though the staff genuinely disliked having us there. It was uncomfortable enough that it became a topic of conversation at our table. St Andrews is such a special place, and we had been looking forward to having lunch at Tom Morris. Unfortunately, the unnecessarily rude and dismissive service completely overshadowed the experience. I rarely leave a negative review, but this was bad enough that I felt it was worth mentioning.”

“Attention Management: Please Fix Your Service The food was very nice and the atmosphere is wonderful, but unfortunately the service completely spoiled our experience. We are four ladies traveling through Scotland with our driver, and after almost two weeks of an extensive luxury tour, eating in many restaurants along the way, this was honestly the first time we encountered such consistently rude and dismissive service. From the greeting to taking our order, the facial expressions and attitude made us feel as though we were an inconvenience. At one point, even a bottle of water was practically thrown onto our table. What surprised us most was that this attitude seemed to come not only from the waiters, but also from management. Scotland has been incredibly warm and welcoming everywhere we have traveled, which made this experience stand out even more. Tom Morris is such a beautiful and well-known place, and the food deserves better service to match it. I really hope management pays attention to how guests are being treated, because a restaurant in such a special location should make people want to come back — not leave wondering what just happened.”

“The food was mediocre and the service was very slow. I guess they have the corner of the market being on the golf course so maybe they really don’t care about the service.”

“Incredible history and an open and Green course for all. Look around, have a bite, make a putt. The vibe is awesome and open. Lots of great merch to be had. Go if you can, it’s truly amazing.”

“We are a family of 6 adults and a baby visiting St Andrews for holiday. One of our drivers told us to visit Tom Morris and we are glad we got there in the late afternoon when it wasn’t overly busy. Because we have a 15 month old to keep occupied it is always good to eat somewhere during the off peak hours. Our waitress was very helpful and we enjoyed haggis, a variety of sandwiches and salads plus some drinks. My shrimp baguette was 4*. Tasty, but not exceptional. I pups definitely visit again and try some of their other yummy options. A special shout out to Amy, a supervisor, who was very kind and sweet with our baby. She genuinely made our visit memorable because she didn’t act like the baby was a nuisance, but rather she treated her like she was a paying customer. Btw, the bay loved the chips and had some steak as well. Thank u Tom Morris for hiring such quality employees.”
