About The View Restaurant
Overlooking the Tay and the rail bridge towards Dundee, The View Restaurant sits on Naughton Road in Newport on Tay and operates as a British restaurant, with breakfast and a broader European range on the menu. Seating runs through the main dining room and onto the outdoor tables, and booths are set among the standard covers. A private dining room at the back accommodates larger groups, with around twenty guests seated in recent service. Parking is ample to the rear, where there is a separate entrance alongside the front door. Dogs are welcome inside, and the kitchen sends out a trout and pear tart alongside the mains, with lattes available from the bar. Reservations are required.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the food, with one father's day lunch built around a trout and pear tart. The view over the Tay, railbridge and Dundee recurs, as do friendly staff. One reviewer finds it a bit more expensive than other places. A group of twenty was served well despite being rowdy, and staff went above and beyond for a birthday.

“Having driven past this establishment many times, we decided to try it for lunch today. Can I just say we were glad we did. There is ample parking to the rear with an entrance at the rear and also at the front. We were impressed the moment we walked in. The interior was very well set out, clean and tidy, in fact the bar area was the cleanest I have seen in any establishment, you could virtually eat your dinner off it. We were greeted by a server then taken to our booth, (there are other tables available but we were happy with a booth). We placed our order and our food and lattes came out soon after. Can I just say without doubt the food served to us was one of the best meals we have had all year. On par with the Wee Restaurant in North Queensferry and the food served would give Tom Kitchin in Leith a good run for his money. If this isn't a Mitchelin recommended restaurant, then it should be. The food was amazing, tasty, good sized portions and although, yes, a bit more expensive than other establishments, the quality of the food more than made up for it. The servers were polite, prompt and well presented. The views out over the Silvery Tay, railbridge and Dundee were beautiful. Ample seating inside and outside. The toilets were spotlessly clean, tidy and smelled great (extra points for having great toilet roll too). Full marks and well done to the cleaners. I can highly recommend eating here.”
