  “Absolutely fantastic Sunday roast! The food was incredible, the roast potatoes were genuinely the best I’ve ever had, perfectly cooked and full of flavour. My daughter’s kids’ roast was huge, amazing value for money, and she loved every bite and cleared her plate, which says it alll! The service was just as impressive as the food. Kelly looked after us throughout our visit and was unbelievably friendly, sweet, attentive and welcoming. She really made us feel looked after. Sophie was also fantastic and helped make our experience even more enjoyable. Ben was also so lovely and kind! Great food, generous portions, excellent prices and outstanding service. We left happy, full and already looking forward to coming back. Highly recommend!”

  “Didn’t have any food, so can’t give a score for it. My friend and I were out Saturday 24th Jan 2026 for a birthday night out and we bought a drink, went to buy another and out of Malibu and Tia Maria, on a Saturday night!!!! Tesco was open nearby, could have got some. But apart from that the atmosphere was good, DJ was good, good music.”

  “A Joyous Start to Christmas at the Royal Albert Hall Attending John Rutter’s Christmas concert at the Royal Albert Hall was the perfect way to kick off the festive season. The atmosphere was magical, with the iconic venue beautifully adorned for Christmas, and the music was simply breathtaking. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra was stunning, delivering each piece with precision and heartfelt emotion. Whether it was the soaring strings or the delicate woodwinds, every note felt like a celebration of the season. John Rutter’s joyful energy and interaction with the audience added an extra layer of warmth to the evening. The sing-along carols were a delightful touch, making it feel like a shared festive moment with everyone present. Before the concert, we dined at The Edgar restaurant. While it was conveniently located and saved us the stress of rushing, the experience left something to be desired. The service was fine, but for the price, we expected a higher standard of food and ambiance. It wasn’t bad, just not quite up to the level of the occasion. That said, the concert itself more than made up for it. The combination of festive music, the grandeur of the Royal Albert Hall, and the outstanding performance of the orchestra created a truly memorable evening. If you’re looking for a joyous and inspiring start to your Christmas season, John Rutter’s concert is an absolute must. We left feeling uplifted, festive, and ready for the holidays!”

  “If you want a massive roast which is very reasonably priced and served with a smile, this is a great pub for it! Every time I've been here on a Sunday, I see people going to the kitchen to tell the staff about how lovely their food was which is a wonderful atmosphere, very warm. That being said, I've also been here on nights out and it can be a long wait to get a drink due to how busy it gets however, it's great fun regardless! Keep up the good work guys!”

  “Decent pub with lovely, friendly staff. Delicious food, nice bright courtyard area for outdoor sitting. Sunday Roasts are popular here and quality meat is always used. Lamb is offered where some places do not offer that option. Different sorts of entertainment on some nights.”

  “Good grub and grog at reasonable prices. Huge breakfast served all day for £7.50. Could use a little sprucing up inside to get the 5 stars but still worth a visit. Also very central to pretty much everything in Portsmouth/Southsea.”
