About The Dolphin Pub & Kitchen
The Dolphin Pub & Kitchen is a British pub and kitchen on High Street in Portsmouth, serving breakfast, brunch, and a full menu through the day. The kitchen runs a Sunday roast offered as a sharer for two, built around pork, beef, a Yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese, and roast potatoes, and the cheeseburger with chips is on the regular menu. The room functions as an I.P.A. events host, with taps and guest lines from independent breweries. Dogs are welcome in the space. Walk-ins set the format, with the bar and dining floor open throughout service.

“I was here last week with 2 friends in the afternoon. We all had the cheeseburger and agreed that it was possibly the best one that we had ever had. A beautiful big juicy burger guaranteed to fill you up. Came with chips of course. Being 1pm there were not too many people in so can't comment on the atmosphere but it is a lovely old pub and very interesting and characterful.”

“Went to the dolphin this afternoon for a meal for my wedding anniversary and what can I say other then amazing the food was 10/10 everything home made and fresh, big portions so you certainly don’t go hungry. The served by the manager who was such a nice guy and very welcoming, catered to everything we needed and made our day as a family very special. 100% recommend. Thank you for such an amazing day and definitely see you again soon xx”

“Very disappointing roast We were really disappointed with our roast today. Firstly, the pork was dry and the Yorkshire pudding was soggy. We were also served just one carrot and one parsnip, which looked as though they had been sitting on the side for some time. Our sitting was at 2pm, so it certainly wasn’t the end of the day. The biggest disappointment for me, though, was the gravy. We specifically asked for extra gravy, but what we were given appeared to be gravy made from granules rather than the red wine gravy advertised on the menu. In my opinion, a good gravy is a huge part of what makes a roast dinner, and this was very ordinary. The cauliflower cheese was the only part of the meal that we genuinely enjoyed. It’s just so disheartening to pay a decent amount of money for a roast dinner and not feel that you’ve been served a quality plate of food. We expected much better and, unfortunately, we won’t be returning.”
