Customer Review Summary
Breakfast is the draw reviewers raise most, with one calling it a cure for hangovers and stress and another describing warm food and clean tables. Sunday lunch is also praised as delicious. Beyond that, diners like the good ale, the nice terrace, the position in the heart of Southsea and a quiet, smart interior, though one finds it gloomy with dim lighting and worn carpets. It turns into a busy club at night, with visible security. The complaints centre on food and drink quality and on how staff handled them. One reviewer received badly burnt food that tasted awful, and another got small, cold fish and chips with hard garden peas, then was told the portion size was correct. Two describe drinks that seemed off: a cocktail that tasted like lemonade, and a pint of Coke served three quarters full that tasted watered down. In both cases a rude response from a staff member or manager is the sticking point, with one refusing to remake the cocktail.

“There is a staff member there using the cheaper stuff in the cocktails ,several times this has happend and they get quite arguementive when questioned about it ,my family member legit saw them use a diffrent liquor in my drink a couple of months a go,the staff member did make it again and said look i did use the right one same colour! Thats not the point though,it didnt taste the same! and thats because they put the wrong thing in my drink! I had a issue again recently where my cocktail just straight up tasted like they had used more lemonade then the syrup ,it didnt taste like the drink im used too at weatherspoons ,so i went up this time and spoke too someone about it and their attitude was very rude ,they then gaslight me and accused me of making accusations against their staff .I said not accusation it is the truth and they said if i want it stronger pay for another shot ,thats besides the point ,i always get a single and it never tastes just like lemonade! Its not about the alcohol,it was about the taste ,not tasting like it is meant too ,the colour was also a lot lighter also, which suggests one of the measurements was off by a bit or they used a cheaper syrup. The way they spoke too me was very unprofessional ,i think it was a manager aswell ,as they said my staff would not do that .Its not a accusation ,its the honest truth.Maybe the staff who made it needs more training,if they are not doing it by purpose and they do not know what too use in the drink then ask .I poliety asked the manager too make it again.I said you remake it so i can see it is done properly then please and they said why would i do that ,it will waste stock. No apology ,just straight up defensive and rude as soon as i mentioned the drink tasting like lemonade.I have made a complaint now ,will wait for the reply ,but too be fair i will not be going back too that weatherspoons in future. If anyone else has had this problem then i do apologize and make sure you also make a complaint.Apart from one staff member making the cocktails incorrect and one of the staff member (maybe manager) attitude being unprofessional (i think they are not always there though) the food is ok,the waiters are professional and the pub is nice layout ,spacious .”

“The atmosphere of the pub is great—it’s quiet and has a nice feel to it, and the food arrived quickly. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The food was badly burnt and tasted awful, which was really disappointing. It’s frustrating to pay for a meal that clearly wasn’t prepared properly. I definitely wouldn’t recommend coming to this pub for food, as the quality was nowhere near acceptable. If you’re just stopping by for drinks, it’s a good place, but I’d avoid eating here.”

“I ordered two main courses each with a pint of Coke without ice. Guy brings it out the glass was 3/4. I said mate we ordered a pint not the 3/4 of it he rudely left so I had to shout at him to come back and get our drink back. Obviously he put water in it as I had a sip and it didn’t taste the usual taste. The only reason I didn’t complain as a nice girl brought us our food and she was very pleasant. I’d say this place is the worst Wetherspoons in town. Avoid”

“Wetherspoon bar/restaurant by day, very busy Wetherspoon club by night… the switch is crazy. I didn’t know spoons were clubs. you will find this very long, narrow Wetherspoon in a very busy area of southsea, serving typical spoons food and drinks, it’s by far the cheapest bar around for food and drinks, kids are allowed in during the day until later in the evening when it gets busy, security are visible and ID needs to be shown, the toilets are located on the ground floor so no mountain to climb. There are a few seats outside mostly used by smokers. this place doesn’t have a car park so parking can be tricky, there are a few private car parks around.”

“A decent Wetherspoons in the heart ❤️ of Southsea. Nice terrace and plenty of shops and other bars/restaurants nearby. A Wetherspoon’s breakfast 🍳 heals all problems, like hangovers, relationship problems, work related stress and hunger 👏”
