Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the outside seating by the water, where diners watch fishing boats and working boats come and go, with one calling it a sun trap in the afternoon. Food comes close behind, and generous portions are a recurring note: fish and chips, a prawn and crab sandwich, mussels, whitebait, and sausages and mash with gluten free options. One praises the pineapple with coconut ice cream, and another a Valentine's menu of scallops and duck breast. Drinkers mention the Fullers beers, including extra bottles in the fridge, and a Cornish cider. Staff are described as friendly and quick, though one reviewer wanted them to be more emphatic. Complaints are mild. One would like more draught ales and nicer mayonnaise, and another found the lunch good but not cheap. One diner adds that the seagulls politely wait to be fed leftovers.

“The best fish n chips in Portsmouth huge portions. Well presented and well cooked. Friendly staff. Well keep beers. Great location. May I suggest a few more draught ales would be great and some nicer mayonnaise. Well worth a visit .”

“A popular old pub on the waters edge. Seating inside and out with some umbrellas for shade on a hot day. Lovely efficient staff. Food was delicious, I am quite fussy with chips but these were very nice indeed. The seagulls seem very polite and will wait to be fed any leftovers, no point putting good food in a bin when they are about.”

“We're never visited this pub before but I've seen plenty of good reviews so decided to try it. We dropped in last Wednesday lunch time and ordered the prawn & crab sandwich with side chips/salad. Served by Faye who was friendly & helpful (despite me not knowing my table number) the food arrived quickly & the portions are generous. Seated outside watching the fishing boats in the Camber was fantastic. I definitely recommend this lovely pub, will be back again next time we've down in Pompey.”

“Amazing gluten free meal options. Had the sausages and mash with gravy. Great size portions. Too full to try a pudding but great selection. Lovely cornish cider. Staff are lovely and friendly. Will definitely be going back.”
