About YummyThai Noodle Bar
YummyThai Noodle Bar keeps its discounted lunch menu take-home only, so midday orders are collected rather than eaten in at this Thai restaurant on Burgess Road in Southampton. The kitchen cooks fresh to order, and diners wait at the counter for plates to come out. Pad Thai and salt and pepper squid sit alongside the curries, which run through green, red, Penang and massaman. Tables work on a walk-in basis rather than by reservation, and service runs in the evenings, with the doors closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Alongside eating in, the same menu goes out as takeaway for anyone who would rather eat at home.

Customer Review Summary
Pad Thai is the dish reviewers raise most, with one calling it a throwback to eating in Thailand and another the best in Southampton. Close behind are the curries, where panang, massaman, green and red are described as flavourful, and the prawns in one curry are called a good size. Pad Ka Pow, tom yum soup and the lunchtime specials also get praise, and a reviewer who spent years in Thailand calls the taste authentic. Several mention food that arrives quickly and hot, whether collected, delivered or eaten in, and the friendly staff and owner come up repeatedly. The complaints are modest and specific. One reviewer found the panang curry the same consistency as the green, with no bamboo shoots and the same vegetables despite the online description. Another notes that rice for the tom yum must be bought separately, and two find the salt and pepper squid or the place itself a little expensive for the portion. One reviewer closes on a student discount for takeaway and a cash machine a minute's walk away, since payment options are limited.

“Absolutely delicious! I’ve tried a few meals from here including the green, red and penang curries which are always so flavourful and tasty. I’ve recommended this restaurant to our family and friends who now also love it. Looking forward to trying more meals on the menu!”

“Suuuuper tasty food at good value. This is Honestly the best pad thai in southampton and i have tried them all. The panang and massaman curries are killer as well - Obviously use very high quality or homemade curry pastes. Also friendly staff and owner, had pleasant conversation with the owner whilst i waited to collect the food and felt like we were friends by the end! nothing bad to be said really.”

“Nothing bad to be said, really. From the moment we entered the service from all the employees was really nice and even had some nice conversations with them. The menu has a variety of Thai food and they explain the menu quite clearly. Food was prepared quite quickly and it was delicious. The quality was satisfying as well. You could have a very filling meal for around £10 per person. They have a 20% student discount for take away! They only accept cash, PayPal or payment through their app only. Which could be inconvenient if you were hoping to pay with cash. But there is a cash machine just a minute of walking away. Recommended!”
